# Slug Generator: Turn Titles into Clean URL Slugs in Bulk Migrating a blog, importing a product catalog or translating a site all end with the same chore: turning many titles into clean URL slugs. Slug Generator is a free web tool that converts article titles, product names and headings into clean URL slugs as you type. This note focuses on naming cases and the workflow around it; to follow along, see [this free URL slug generator with transliteration](https://sluggenerator.dev/). ## How to generate slugs step by step 1. Go to Slug Generator; it is free and runs in the browser with no uploads. 2. Enter one title per line, up to 1,000 at a time. 3. Turn on transliteration for accents, German mode (ä → ae), Cyrillic, Greek or optional Chinese → pinyin. 4. Add custom symbol pairs if needed (the defaults turn & into and, % into percent, @ into at). 5. Add a base URL to preview the full links and check the SEO length indicator. 6. Download CSV or JSON, or use the Bulk CSV tool to add slug and URL columns and generate 301 redirects. ## Key capabilities - **Bulk CSV:** slug and URL columns, unique duplicates, and 301 redirects for .htaccess, Nginx and Cloudflare Bulk Redirects. - **Base URL preview and SEO length indicator.** - **Custom symbol pairs:** symbols become words, such as & → and and % → percent. - **Transliteration:** Latin accents (é → e, ß → ss, ł → l), a German mode, Cyrillic, Greek and optional Chinese → pinyin. - **Separators:** hyphen, underscore, dot or none, plus a lowercase toggle. - **Editable stop words:** with Spanish, French and German presets. ## Use cases - **Campaign links:** Pair clean slugs with the UTM Builder for tagged campaign URLs. - **Multilingual sites:** Transliterate accented Latin text, Cyrillic or Greek titles, or turn Chinese titles into pinyin. - **Data exports:** Export every title and slug as CSV (UTF-8 BOM) or JSON. - **E-commerce catalogs:** Slugify product names in bulk with the Bulk CSV tool and add slug and URL columns. ## Extra tools Alongside the main generator there are extra tools: a 301 Redirect Generator, a Kebab Case Converter, a UTM Builder, a URL Encoder/Decoder, Remove Accents and a Slug Checker. The interface is available in English and 简体中文. ## What it is not It is not a CMS plugin and not a paid API or SaaS service, and it needs no login. The code snippets do not include pinyin conversion; only the web tool supports pinyin. ## Summary Slug Generator is free, private and quick: titles in, consistent slugs out, with CSV/JSON export and matching slugify() code. Everything runs in the browser, with no sign-up and no uploads. Open it, paste a few titles and compare the output with your current slugs.
