Panic at startup, first restart following installation of
Cisco VPN Client 4.9.01.0100
unofficially sourced from
ftp://ftp.rrzn.uni-hannover.de:21//pub/local/vpn/macosx/10.4-10.5/vpnclient-darwin-4.9.01.0100-universal-k9.dmg
referred from
http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/10317/cisco-vpn-client

Verbose mode at startup, AFAIR the panic occurred immediately after the following lines were presented:

> CiscoVPN : checking if we are already attached to interface: vmnet8
>
> CiscoVPN : no, not yet attached to interface: vmnet8

Judging from a later dmesg view of things, the two lines that might normally follow are:

> CiscoVPN : interface: vmnet8, filter attached.
> CiscoVPN : current MTU for vmnet8 is 1500, saving it.
