Haha, I can understand how that might get underneath your skin. "I'm a computer scientist, not a tech support lackey for fixing your computer." 'course, I'm a softie enough to do it anyway... ;-)
I think it's interesting that you don't refer to your major as a science major. It certainly sounds like one; or, perhaps it straddles that line between science and engineering? What do you think it is? For that matter, would I understand if I asked what kind of things you have learned in further detail?
I’m… uhh… complex.  I’m over in the 300 area working on mostly sensitive and classified Cyber Security fun. I have designed and (almost finished) implementing a system which processes a bunch of information from around the Internet and passes it into a giant database we have here. There are a team of analysts that then use it. Previously, this process was manual and only performed with a few important feeds. Now, it’s fully automatic and on a much larger scale.
The project itself isn’t too complex, but I get pumped for all sorts of knowledge and have done some fascinating (and mostly pointless now, for some frustrating reasons) work with parallel processing.
Hmm, I might have just brain dumped. Sorry about that! I’ve been excited since before I came here and even now that I’m leaving in a month.
What activities have you found outside of work? I’ve been hanging out with other interns, and eating tacos. A lot of tacos. (Hint: Pasco.) If you’re down with paintball, some of us are putting together an outing next month.
