The What.CD eZine

What is it: an eZine for what.cd - written by the community, for the community, about the community and things pertinent to what.cd

When it is: Published on the 15th of every month, Midnight GMT

Sections:
1. Ask the admins - users submit questions to the admins and each month the admins choose some to answer
2. Humor - humorous/satirical musical reviews, pertinent comics, etc.
3. Tech Talk - Anything technology related, whether a review of a pair of headphones or a discourse into the nature of a tracker's economics, or a critique of gazelle
4. Music - Reviews, news and other things in the world of music.

How it will run:
Any user will be allowed to submit an article and it will be reviewd by the editorial staff and chosen to be included or not, as well as edited.
After two submissions are selected, a user is allowed to apply for a monthly column.

Articles must meet the following guidelines to be considered:
1. At least 500 words
2. Qualify for one of the categories
3. Properly tagged as "NSFW" or "Inappropriate for minors" where appropriate

The editorial board will work as such:
1. Initially the board will consist of oorza, keseldude, remisser and Spednar
2. The editorial board will operate strictly on a set of bylaws that are not public, but available to staff
3. After 4 selected submissions, anyone can ask to be discussed to join the board, it won't be restricted to any user class
4. The board will have the final say on matters regarding the eZine and will submit minutes/IRC logs to the site staff upon request
5. Any staff member is welcome to sit in on "board meetings" or have a membership at the board's forum, but they will not have a voice in eZine matters unless they are a member of the board itself. Exceptions for things that would directly influence the site (veto on an article like "Why the staff sucks huge balls" or something similar - will be defined more clearly when the bylaws are written)

How the eZine with operate:
We're hoping to have it hosted on ezine.what.cd (or something similar), which would require about 1GB of hard drive space and a mysql database. We have people that are ready and willing and competent to code everything, we just need staff approval and access that would be necessary. We want this to be officially sanctioned and be as professional and intelligent as possible and, as such, we'd need the staff approval to meet that goal as much as we can. We don't want this to be like Waffles - sporadic user-submit, unedited articles without any semblance of consistant quality. We want this to be as professional and well-written as Pitchfork,
