Some potential topics:
* New meeting scheme: It might be a good idea to pick a more flexible
meeting model for future meetings to accommodate our disparate time
zones
- Two meeting sessions both on Saturday is best to avoid conflicts
- 1800 GMT and 2200 GMT
* Logging: we need to improve Sharpbot coverage (new host or a shared
hosting setup). He has no maintainer or permanent host (although a few
of the board members have been trying to fill some of the gaps). The
code needs to be profiled and checked for memory and performance bugs,
which has presented issues with previous hosts. We could choose an
alternate logging system or bot for the interim, to ensure public logs
for our channel.
- Redmine project for issue tracking
- grover wants to work on the bot to add distributed features and do profiling work
- Use freenode nick system as a locking mechanism
- Improve sync security so more nodes are possible
- We will have nodes which fill the gaps when the bot is not available
* Me, bruce, grover, viraptor can host nodes
- New features
* Code search (possible from ROS bot)
* AI-based personality code
*
* Coding style: we currently follow Mono's coding style guides, but
few if any of us follow it precisely. There may be exceptions that we
wish to adopt:
- Size 8 tabs?
* Size 4 tabs is more desirable for our large code base + space alignment for breaking
long lines
- Columns
* Undecided
- Max char limit
* 120 is reasonable for 1024 at a normalish font
- Member naming
* public CamelCase, protected CamelCase, private [_]camelCase
* Possibly vote for _ vs lowerCamelCase for private members
* Use 'this.' if you do not prefix with '_'
* Moderately descriptive variable names, don't overdo it
* Short 'i' and 'a' names for loop-related variables only, and better names
when the loop is very large
*
- Space before parentheses / brackets?
* Vote is necessary
- Opening bracket on next line for long class interface definitions
- Vote on next line bracket for all class definitions
* Lint/gendarme integration
- Need to clean up current code base first (xfury will handle)
- Integration of gendarme into nant
- CI (continuous integration) with CC.net
-
* Volunteers/discussion? (for some much needed projects)
- Documentation and Design: in-code documentation, code review,
howtos, technical documents, redesigns, etc
* bigfoot on GC
* z98 on exception handling / AOT / Runtime
*
- Testcases: more IL, AOT and kernel testcases, unification of the
testcase system,
- Korlib/corlib integration
- complete string support
- reflection support
- console rewrite using objects
* Brief on current projects from developers (as time and developer
availability permits)
- Driver System
- Filesystem / Block devices
- VFS layer
- AOT development / generics
- GC
- Please speak up about your project if you're working on SharpOS or
related project!
* Discussion: Driver Interfaces, ideas, models, methods to ensure code
safety efficiently, etc.
* Sharing infrastructure with Ensemble and/or Cosmos
