What is your post college life like?
Or post high-school if you went straight to work without going to college. When I was in college I thought about how cool it would be once I'd graduated. No more homework means my evenings would be free so I could hang out and do whatever I wanted. I imagined myself hanging out with friends (who likewise had nothing to do at the end of the workday) pretty much every evening, playing video games, throwing a frisbee around, having BBQ's, whatever.
Now that I've graduated and I'm about a year into my working life I'm finding that it's nothing like I imagined. Most of my friends have moved away and the ones who have stayed are still in school or are in relationships where they spend the vast majority of their time with their significant others.
I find that most days I get up, go to work, go to the gym, come home and make dinner then pretty much sit on the computer and game/read until it's time for bed. It's kind of pathetic in a way, but on the other hand I'm not really sure how to break out of it. Most days my friends are busy with school or whatever and don't want to hang out. I guess I'm just curious if this is a normal thing for people who are starting their professional lives.
For those of you who have graduated and are now part of the rat race, do you find yourselves in similar situations? Do you feel like you have friends available to hang out with most of the time? What is your typical day like once you've finished work? Have things gone the way you expected them to go after graduation?
