(11:39:44) JerJer: i am beating my head against a native bridging problem
(11:40:20) JerJer: we now have deployed a true 'soft-switched' network - meaning a gateway with TE410P cards in them talking to a 'switch' which no telephony hardware
(11:40:47) JerJer: so we always have two asterisk boxes dealing with one call - but we want the 'switch' machine to optimize out of the call path
(11:41:14) JerJer: i have spent the better part of two days now trying to grasp the codecpriority stuff, which seems new (at least to me)
(11:43:23) JerJer: i cannot seem to select options that make it so I can make the 'switch' asterisk box make every attempt to native bridge calls
(11:45:13) JerJer: meaning the 'switch' box shouldn't make any decision about what codec to use.... simply pass on what was received
(11:46:21) JerJer: i can make one way work
(11:46:47) JerJer: either inbound calls to the switch, which just dials out on another iax channel
(11:47:48) JerJer: when I call from the PSTN to the IAX client seems to be the most troublesome
(11:48:18) JerJer: so PSTN gateway (asterisk) ---(iax)--> switch (asterisk) ----(iax)---> customer (asterisk)
(11:49:50) JerJer: the switch asterisk box requests with the first codec in my allow statements and since the gateway also has that codec it uses it
(11:50:06) JerJer: but if the customer only has ulaw, the call does not get native bridged
(11:50:41) JerJer: so then the call sets up gateway ===(gsm)====> switch ===(ulaw)===> customer
(11:51:14) JerJer: i've flooded you enough - let me know if anything i just rambled make any sense
