Dear Soldier,

My name is Daniel Neri and I’m a sophomore at J.P. Taravella High School. J.P. Taravella, or JPT for short, is a large public school located in a suburb of Fort Lauderdale, not far from Miami.
Every year, a club by the name of DECA does something called a chapter project. These chapter projects are public service projects that we focus most of our attention on.
This year, our chapter project is called Trojans for Troops. We started this project to raise support and awareness for all the noble men and women fighting overseas. We’ve run many school wide events to constantly raise money and awareness for you guys. We’ve had over 200 people in our club write letters to soldiers in Iraq. Little things like these make those fighting for us freedom feel special I’m sure.
If you follow the stock market, you’ll have noticed that the market has recently not been doing too well. However, not long ago Microsoft made a big to Yahoo, the world’s largest software company, of $44.6 Billion dollars! Since then, however, Yahoo’s executive board has rejected the bid, stating that the software giant is ‘worth more’. There has been talk of Microsoft switching it’s over too hard, cold cash instead of a combination of cash and stock, which would be more valuable. Microsoft also warned that if Yahoo would not cooperate, they would pursue a more hostile bid.
As far as politics are concerned, Senator John McCain has won the Republican primaries and is going to be the Republican representative for the upcoming elections. On the Democrat side however, the battle still wages on between Barrack Obama and Hillary Clinton, with Obama in the lead as of now.
Before I wrap up I would just like to convey my personal gratitude towards you and all your fellow soldiers out there. Words cannot describe how much I appreciate you fighting towards our freedom. I am merely a small dot in the crowd of the millions of Americans that stand behind you in the war against terror.

Best of luck,

Daniel (Mrs. Acosta – Teacher)
