Hello Arturas:
First of all we have had several issues with Vista.Make sure you prepare the Launchpad on Vista. Right click on the launchpad and go to the compatability tab. Select compatability for Windows XP SP2. Then select Run as Admin. After that ALWAYS start up the game by right clicking on the launchpad and select run as the admin option. Vista comes with DirectX10 bundle on. Please down load DirectX9.0c and instal it. It will live happily on your Vista with out interfering with DX10. Here is the link.
We've now upgraded to DirectX 9.0c (April 2006 version).

- Continuing our efforts to keep pace with current technology, EverQuest will be upgrading to DirectX9.0c (April 2006 version) to allow us to take advantage of many of the new features and fixes since our last upgrade in the middle of 2003.

1. Get the April 2006 DirectX 9.0c (April 2006) redistributable version (Caution: Download is about 52 MB) at: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=fb73d860-5af1-45e5-bac0-9bc7a5254203&DisplayLang=en

2. Run directx_apr2006_redist.exe. Extract the files to an easily identifiable directory. (We suggest using C:\DIRECTX as the directory path.)

3. Go to the directory the files were extracted to in step 2. Run "DXSETUP.EXE" from that directory. Alternatively, if you used the example we provided in step 2, then you can just go to the Start menu and click on Run, then enter in c:\directx\dxsetup and then click OK.

4. Accept the license agreement. Allow the installer to update the DirectX components.
On the laptop please anser the questions that I am sending here and return them to us by replying to this mail.

We apologize for the inconvenience your issue has caused. We will require additional information to accurately troubleshoot your problem. We apologize if some of these questions have been answered in your original email but, we are attempting to be as thorough as possible. Please provide as much of the requested information below as you can:

1. Station/Login Name:
2. Server you currently play on:
3. Problem(s) you are having including any error messages. What is the exact error message? Please be as specific as possible.
4. When did these problems begin?
5. Have you made any recent changes to your computer and/or its connection to the Internet? Please be as specific as possible?
6. How are you connecting to the Internet? Do you do any connection sharing or use a home network? Router/hub/switch? What kind? Have your tried bypassing them just for troubleshooting? What was the result? Where are you connecting from(home/school/office)?
7. What Operation System are your running? 98, XP, 2000 Professional?
8. What have you tried to remedy the problem?

Please read the full instructions below, and reply with the following files as soon as possible. If possible, please compress the files in a .zip format:

DxDiag.txt file
MSinfo.txt file
SwgClient_r.exe-<version>-<date and time>.txt
SwgClient_r.exe-<version>-<date and time>.mdmp
(These files are usually created after a client crash)

You may want to submit the .mdmp(minidump) files from the StarWars Galaxies directory in a form of a bug report, and also submit them with this E-mail. These files are located in C:\Program files\StarWarsGalaxies Folder. These files help us, and our Dev team to diagnose the possible issues. (You may or not have these files in your SWG directory) If you do, please submit them with the description at the time of the problem, and also attach them to the E-mail you are sending back to us. Thank You.

To create the DxDiag.txt and MSinfo.txt, please do the following:

For Windows 95/98/2000/XP:
1. Run DXDIAG.EXE from your Start menu (click Start, Run..., then type "dxdiag" and hit Enter)
2. Click the "Save all Information" button, located at the bottom of the program window
3. Save the file as "dxdiag.txt"
4. Run msinfo32 from your Start menu (click Start, Run..., then type "msinfo32" and hit Enter)
5. Click on the "File" menu and choose "Export..."
6. Save the file as a Text Document and name it "MSinfo.txt"

For Windows Vista:

2. Click the "Save all Information" button, located at the bottom of the program window
3. Save the file as "dxdiag.txt"
4. Run msinfo32 from your Start menu (the search bar at the bottom of the Start menu)
5. Click on the "File" menu and choose "Export..."
6. Save the file as a Text Document and name it "MSinfo.txt"

*Note* Please be sure to attach these files to the email do not paste these documents to the body of the message.
Get us this information and we'll see if we can help
Thank you.

hello,
i have some problems playing swg. the first one is when i play on windows XP i get very big lag, i dunno why, my notebook is good (Core 2 duo t7700, 4gb ram, 8600m gs (asus z96s)), sound is lagging when watching in-game movies and lag is like you walk slowly then suddenly it gets very very fast.. it's very annoyng.
the second problem is when i try to play on windows vista i see only 2 servers (galaxies), those are the test servers, why i can't see other servers?
so the conclusion is, i like this game really, i played a trial several times but i haven't buought it yet because i didn't have much time for games, and now when i want to play it seriously- i can't because of those two problems. thanks for the answer in forward.
regards,
arturas medvedevas
