To the Iron Council,
The purpose of this document is to serve as a formal application and petition to be considered for the position of Vernal Ascendant.
I am a divisive person, by my very nature. I am arrogant, rude, brash, prone to violence, and I have a history as a troublemaker. Yet for all these shortcomings and personal flaws, I am a servant of this city. I have oft been accused of working for myself, but my true goals are the glory of this great Engine and its will.
I won’t prattle on about why I should be picked. Each and every one of you knows of my past, and of my accomplishments. I am a skilled general, a capable fighter, and a dedicated member of our Legion. These qualities serve as a foundation for my candidacy, but I’d like to briefly speak on the unique benefits I can bring to the Engine if I were chosen to Ascend. I am a Titan and a Sealbearer, and these two attributes serve to distinguish me from the other applicants.
Many people I’ve spoken to have expressed concerns about my proximity to immortality and the benefits of Demigod. Some have argued that I should not be chosen because it would deprive us of another warrior in the Domoth. This is not the case: my status as a Titan serves as an example of my dedication and a benefit, rather than a hindrance.
Consider the much-rumoured teachings of Ascendancy… This block of knowledge requires great amounts of essence, and essence is tremendously time consuming to gather. I achieved Titan in the space of 10 months, catapulting from the 5th Order of the Hyperphysical to the brink of immortality. I have demonstrated my ability to work tirelessly towards a given goal. I set my mind to achieving Titan before the Challenge of War, and I devoted every waking moment to achieving it. I pledge to demonstrate that same dedication in pursuit of the duties of Ascendant.
Beyond the matter of essence, my dedication to the hunt ensures that I will be able to lend my abilities as an Ascendant to the cause of helping other Magnagorans achieve Titan and Demigods. The role of Ascendant should not only be to fight, but to serve, and my dedication to hunting is another way I might serve.
In addition to hunting, I bear the Seal of War. This medallion serves as a great boon in the Domoth realm, and if coupled with Ascendant status, it would be a talisman of tremendous power. My blessings would be even easier to obtain, and last longer than any other’s. I would be a force far more potent than as a mere Demigod.
In truth, these are simple advantages, basic benefits that would serve to help me perform the duties of Ascendant. I am a man with a long history of service to the Empire, and a devotion to its goals. As a capable combatant, an involved citizen, and a tireless champion, I humbly submit myself to the Council for review. May you find me worthy of the honour I seek.
