20:36 < mikademus> I have come to the realisation that Linux is bad for your life, and that there is one advantage Windows has. Linux is so configurable that you easily tinker away weeks on end, while Windiows is so restricted you get a lot of life to spare because there's simply only so much you can do with it...
20:37 < mikademus> That said, I do love Mandriva
20:38 < mikademus> Also, if someone could update the channel topic with that Mikademus will treat to coffee and pastries any guru that will come to him and help with some annoying issues
20:39 < mikademus> Now, time to catch a lolkitten, and then some ZZZzz
20:39 < mikademus> Oh, icanhascheezburger, how doth I love thee
20:41 -!- milardovich [n=milardov@puente.knett.com.ar] has quit [No route to host]
20:41 < mikademus> Ah, I got my laugh before bed. Here ya go and good night! http://icanhascheezburger.files.wordpress.com/2008/03/funny-pictures-giraffe-airplane-window.jpg
20:42 < envirocbr> mikademus: The Linux theory is to learn on your own and not be a help vampire
20:42 < envirocbr> With that said
20:43 < envirocbr> Linux is NOT for everyone and anyone
20:43 < ozzzy> it's gotten a lot better since 96
20:43 < mikademus> And the person who finds he can live with linux is the one who aske the right questions, and with time finds he need to ask less and less
20:44 < mikademus> Still, the offer for coffee and pop tarts (or whatever) will remain
20:44 < mikademus> In jest at least... :p
20:44 < envirocbr> There isn't a Linux guru who would hold anyone's hand
20:44 < envirocbr> Ubuntu is what you are looking for
20:44 < ozzzy> I don't like *buntu
20:44 < envirocbr> believe it or not...reading is your best friend
20:44 < envirocbr> www.tldp.irg
20:44 < envirocbr> err
20:44 < mikademus> envirocbr: Oh, you seem to know a lot about me... O.o
20:44 < envirocbr> tldp.org
20:45 < envirocbr> mikademus: You are one OF a million who come here...same old day in and day out
20:46 < mikademus> Well thank you dear SIr for telling me that what I really want and need. Then if I might say in return, what you want is a hot bath, some calm music, a cold rose wine, and drop this channel for tiday
20:46 < mikademus> Oh, and a copy of "attempts at humour - how to spot them"
20:47 < mikademus> ozzzy: no, ubuntu isn't something I got a good feeling from
20:49 < envirocbr> No, actually what I want is for school to be overwith and Help Vampires to die! :P
20:49 < envirocbr> oh yeah...I also don't want to have as much gas as I have
20:49 < envirocbr> I fart too much
20:49 < envirocbr> :)
20:49 < ozzzy> I want to retire
20:50 < Benny> ohh dear people... why you ALWAYS have to struggle... just use your brain and think..
20:51 < ozzzy> struggle?
20:51 < ozzzy> man... life's a slide
20:51 < envirocbr> Benny: I think...just not to my fullest potential...bills get in the way of that
20:51 < mikademus> Ok, you need more fibres in your diet, helps with gases. And rape seeds. They help
20:52 < mikademus> </senior_talk>
20:53 < Benny> mandriva is a good product.... and i belive Gael will bring Ulteo also to an great succes... he alway had good ideas .. and will have in the furutre ... i also hope he can return to MDV and make it better further more
20:53 < ozzzy> hehe... Ulteo
20:53 < mikademus> Mandriva is perhaps the best distro I have found so far
20:54 < envirocbr> Ulteo.......
20:54 < Benny> youn know i use also SuSE (btw... to melt both distros is GREAT)
20:54 < envirocbr> :/
20:54 < envirocbr> I have a big issue with SuSe
20:54 < ozzzy> I've never tried it
20:55 < mikademus> envirocbr: just like to say that the idea you espoused above is actually a bit passe and obsolete, now that Linux is making significant inroads to the desktop arena, especially sonsidering that Mandriva is very newb-and-enterprise friendly by design
20:55 < ozzzy> I went from Slack to RH to Mandrake/iva..... no need to go anywhere else
20:55 -!- kd-boss [n=johnatho@75-120-209-247.dyn.centurytel.net] has joined #mandriva
20:55 < Benny> hehe ... i know a member ... he also wrote Konversation
20:55 < mikademus> You will have to live with more questions. Friendliness and good support are the only ways linux can compete
20:55 < Benny> (eisfuchs)
20:56 < Benny> mikademus .... Thats absl. right
20:56 < Benny> you know my aim was to work for or with MDV
20:56 < envirocbr> I don't ever think Linux will be as friendly as people may want it to be
20:56 < mikademus> Yeah, I believe so anyway. For the "help yourself" attitude to be ok today, one would have to be part of the Gentoo or Arch tribes
20:57 < envirocbr> I stand firm that When Windows falls to ground burning..Apple will Rise
20:57 < kd-boss> mikeademus: the inquisitiveness of the human spirit , when dealing with anything comptuer based, has been what has drivin linux, from Linus's invention of the kernel, a copy of minix for his at the time ultra advanced 386 processor , that he wanted the kernel to be able to take advantage of the cpu's advanced processing power, to the different dirstrobutions of linux today with there intent and purpose to serve those that use
20:57 < kd-boss> comptuers.
20:57 < mikademus> hat is true, I agree. And that is
20:57 < mikademus> Toops
20:57 < mikademus> proper reply follows
20:57 < envirocbr> I am die hard Linux....but I know where it's limitations are
20:58 < Benny> envirocbr .... youst imagine SUN APPLE NVIDIA and AMD ... one machiene
20:58 < kd-boss> envirocbr: os-x is a linux clone..
20:58 < envirocbr> kd-boss: More Like FreeBSD
20:58 < envirocbr> Apple got one thing right...the UI
20:58 < kd-boss> envirocbr: still nix based :P
20:59 < Benny> you remember ZETA ?
20:59 -!- mrl32 [n=mrl@200.175.197.62.adsl.gvt.net.br] has quit [Remote closed the connection]
20:59 < mikademus> That is true, I agree. And the history of Linux is also one of the inquisitive techies failing to grok the other side, the side which is vital for long-term viability. And that is what Mandriva is today, a meeting point between the techy side on Linux wrapped into a friendly environment, but still with access to power
20:59 < envirocbr> IMO Free, Open and Net BSD's are "similar" in some ways (when you have Linux Binary Compatibility) but I think they are different enough to be a whole new giant
21:00 < notech> this is a help channel, not the place for such debates
21:00 < envirocbr> #mandriva-offtopic
21:01 * kd-boss requires help beyond the capabilities of any channel on irc, and is just here trying to dirvert his attention to the devistating situation at hand
21:01 < mikademus> Well, I was helped by feeling I'm not alone :p, but yeah, it went OT. Anyway, thanks everyone for the chat, and see you again. Good night!
21:02 < Benny> let me say is like this : even in the Furry fandom we got Tuxys ... :O)
