Table Tennis Captain's Report
This year's side (side? what exactly do you mean?) has been an improvement on past years in many ways. We have had many highs and lows (in what? side? maybe using something besides side so we know what 'it' is), giving our competitors (sp was wrong, right now) a much higher degree of difficulty to play against. While in the 1st VI team, this is not immediately evident as the game scores, only one win for the season, do not reflect this (maybe "While not immediately evident by the scores of the 1st VI team" - the does not reflect part is repetitious), the set scores and the amount of pressure we put on our opponents shows just how far we have come since the founding of GGS table tennis, especially with so many of the other school's players coming from state, and even national teams (a little long for a sentence, but good- might want to shorten it and split into 2 complete sentences). With the 2nds (2nds? whats that? you mean 2nd VI team?) being undefeated thus far, with only one week of summer 2008 APS competition remaining, suggests next year's competition will be even fiercer (feels like a run on.. perhaps "With the 2nd VI team being undefeated having only one week remaining, its suggestive that we will be even more competitive in next years competition"). I'm sure in the years to come the game scores will start to turn in our favour, especially with the endeavor (sp. its right now) of the middle school players that play on a friday night at the geelong pennant. Although middle school sport (you mean sports?) saw the removal of table tennis, the friday night pennant gives our younger players a chance to play against our 1st and 2nd players, and the better players of geelong (huh? your younger players playing against your younger players? huh??). This will lift (to lift talent would be to remove it- is that what you are saying?) the talent that our dedicated external coaches, Jim and Claire Montgomery,(needed a comma) will receive and have to work on in year 10, and hopefully in a few years, yield a few more wins (consider making this 2 sentences).
We would like to thank all our coaches, especially Ms. Sun (TIC) and Jim and Claire Montgomery (2 "and" make it sound weak and thrown together- considering seperating the first 2 with a comma and using an "and" between the last one), our two external coaches (you already said they were external; there is no need to repeat it) from the Geelong Table Tennis Center.
