-ChanServ- [#SDL] Welcome to #sdl - The Offical Simple DirectMedia Layer Channel
<gotnone> can sdl access the X clipboard?
<akawaka> there is no support in the api for it
<akawaka> it doesn't prevent you from accessing it yourself though
<gotnone> hmm... ok I saw a fet old threads hinting that support might be included, I guess it got dropped
<gotnone> s/fet/few/
<blank> They were talking about SDL 1.3
* rabbit- (n=fab1@173.g.011.mel.iprimus.net.au) has joined #sdl
<gotnone> ok, I take it there are no plans to implement support for clipboards in the future as well?
<rnx> probably no good reason to include it with core sdl
<blank> There are plans but they're not yet fully considered.
<gotnone> blank, platform agnostic copy and paste would bee a good thing (tm)
<blank> I guess.
<blank> I don't have a need for copy and paste in a game.
* rhk (n=rhk@adsl-75-44-25-53.dsl.sfldmi.sbcglobal.net) has left #sdl
<gotnone> check out http://jdolan.dyndns.org/trac/ticket/30
<gotnone> there may be others who do
<blank> Yes, I saw that other people request it.
<gotnone> well thanks for the insight, hopefully a well thought out implementation is included in the not too distant future
<rnx> someone just needs to write an extension library
rnx> no reason to put the burden on the core library
<rnx> and to wait for sdl developers to do the work
<blank> Luckily it's low on the wishlist.
<gotnone> problem is many libsdl users are not experienced with the underlying platform APIs and so I doubt that an extension library will come to fruition any sooner than an official extension to the core library
<blank> Oh right, Tux Paint would need it.
<blank> I wonder if anyone is actually working on it.
<rnx> there is only so much that sdl developers can write and maintain ... i wouldnt hold my breath
<blank> It doesn't help that they're having babies.
Things devolved from there
