Or, in English, Pécs, Hungary.House: Ravenpuff<lj-cut text="Stamping Application">
All About You
List three of your strongest and weakest personality traits.Positive Personality Traits (yay me!)1 – I am optimistic. Now let me clear this up. I am not an idealist. I don’t think everything in the world is going to be awesome. But I am a person who thinks everything is going to be ok. I can get through all the bad stuff, because I know it’ll be followed by good things. Or at least less sucky things. I just hate it when people are pessimistic and whine all the time. It annoys the hell out of me. 2- I am pragmatic. To put it bluntly, I get shit done. It may happen last minute, but it will get done, and it will get done well. I tend to shy away from responsibility, but once it’s been given to me, I am very reliable. I hate disappointing people, and whats more, I’m very concerned with how other view me. Ergo – I will not let anyone down. I like being a lazy bum, but I actually thrive when given things to do. It lets me step up and get attention. Which I crave. Oh hey, attention whore much? 3 – I’m very analytical, and love tearing things to pieces. I don’t mean in the violent way, I mean in the examine every possible aspect of a topic in a thorough manner way. I love analyzing a given topic (a novel, a play, a case study, an election, what have you) and giving my opinion on it. What’s more, I’m good at it. I’m very detailed oriented when it comes to that sort of thing. I’m not a detailed oriented person when it comes to physical aspects of life (waaaay too impatient), but when it comes to intellectual pursuits? I’m all over that like butter on bread. Negative Personality Traits (boo, you whore!)1 – I’m incredibly shy when it comes to dealing with other people. In academic situations, I do well and speak my mind. In social situations I have a very difficult time integrating myself. I’m so self conscious and worried about what other’s think of me. It is something I’m very aware of, and wish I could change, but find it difficult to do so. I try very hard to fit in, but I just dislike being around people I don’t know. It’s very stressful.2 – I’m a know-it-all. Oh, it’s so bad. I can’t count the number of times I’ve gotten into arguments with friends because I refuse to admit I’m wrong. I also have tendency to be snotty about it. I’m not trying to be obnoxious. It’s all natural, baby. I just don’t like being wrong, and I like being known for being smart. I imagine that’s related to my fear of social situations. I’ve picked something about myself that I can be proud of and I’m sticking to it. I may not be a social butterfly or a pretty girl, but I’m smart as hell and you will know it, by god. 3 – I can be casually cruel at times. If I decide I don’t like someone, I’m pretty…flippant about what I say around them. Especially if I know they’re in a weaker position than I am. If I have nothing to lose from being a bitch, I’ll be a bitch. I’ll be sarcastic and rude right to their face. I won’t be aggressive about it, that’s not who I am. So it’s not as though I will attack someone if I dislike them. I’m more like to be snide in an offhanded manner. Which of the seven deadly sins are you most guilty of?Probably gluttony. Not just in terms of food (ILU CARBS), but I can go overboard in other aspects of life. When I do something, I do it all the way. I obsess, I overindulge, I ignore other things in order to spend more time with my current obsession. So I would say that out of all the seven sins, gluttony is the one I indulge in most of all. How important are family and friends to you?VERY. I love my family so much. I’ve been very lucky, I have a great family. I’m studying abroad right now and I miss them so much. I’m very close to them. I’ve always had a very good relationship with them, even when they can’t stand each other. I’m the baby of the family, so I sometimes think that has to do with it. Also the fact that I never step on anyone’s toes. I’m all about peace, man. I email my family almost every day. I didn’t do that when I was at home, but now that I can’t go physically see them if I want to I find it very difficult to go too long without at least communicating with one of them. I don’t know if my feelings on family would be different if I had a different family. Maybe it doesn’t matter, I’d always consider family important. But it could just be that I have great parents, a wonderful and strong sister, and a hilarious and super smart brother. I really miss them a lot. Great, thanks, diffindo_stamp, way to get me all misty eyed. As for friends. Yes. Also important. Mostly because as I’ve already said, I’m socially dumb. I don’t think I’d get by without someone to talk to, and my friends are awesome. They’re a support structure, I think everyone needs a support structure. Plus I need humor in my life. They’re great for that. And what’s the point of doing anything in life if you don’t have someone to brag to about it? So… yes! Family and friends, tre important. What is your immediate response to conflict?RUN AWAY. No. seriously. I hate conflict. I hate it so much. I hate feeling negative, I always get so upset, I don’t know what to say. I’m most likely to avoid conflict at all costs. Especially if it’s emotional. Conflict over something factual is fine. I can deal with a debate about academic or political or theoretical topics. But I can’t deal with emotional conflict. I shut down and cry and I have to be alone. I never start anything because I just don’t want to deal with it. I want it to go away. Which of the four elements do you relate to the most?Earth, probably. I’m a steady and calm person. My head is firmly on my shoulders and my feet are on the ground. I’m not prone to flight of fancy. I like the concrete, I like facts, I like hard evidence. I’m not quick to change, but I adapt well. When I do lose my temper, it’s quick and sharp, and then all is forgotten and things are steady and unmoving again. Of course there may be some damage in my wake, but you’ll have to wait a while for another major uprising. Would you say that you’re a child at heart, or that you have an old soul?My sister likes to say I’m a little bit opera, a little bit Disney. I love being a kid and goofing around. I love things that are traditionally meant for children (books and movies mostly), but at the same time, I love more classical things as well. I can watch The Little Mermaid in the afternoon and see Julie Taymor’s Grendel that evening and love both of them. In fact, I have done that. (IT WAS GLORIOUS). I would say I have an old soul more than I’m a child at heart, for the fact that I tend to look at children’s pleasure in the same way I look at adult things. I look for the same things in Happy Feet as I do in A Man for All Seasons. I even wrote an lj post about all the political messages in Happy Feet. I see them, even if everyone else is like, “dude, it’s a movie about a dancing penguin.” WHATEV. Give us a lyric that inspires you or describes you.Oh it’s difficult to pick just one lyric. I know the song, it’s For You by the Barenaked Ladies. I’ve uploaded it, so as Pleakly said in Lilo and Stitch, “here! Educate yourself!” It’s .m4a, so probably only usable for iTunes users. Great song. Anyway, I’m going to go with this stanza – There is nowhere else I would rather be,but I can't just be right hereAn enigma wrapped in a mystery,or a fool consumed by fearA bit pretentious, maybe? But that’s ok, I am a bit pretentious. But it also has that sort of contradiction I often feel about myself, and that concern about being happy. I’m always ok, but I’m not often happy. I feel sort of unsatisfied with everything. I know I should be happy. I’m not unhappy. I have all these good things going on in my life, and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. But I can’t just be happy, I can’t just be right there. And I know I’m not enigma wrapped in a mystery, though I often try to present myself as something like that. I’m just your average fool, consumed with fear like everybody else. What was your favourite subject in school? What was your least favourite subject? In high school, I was a big English geek. In college, I’m a big English geek and a political science geek. I love most of my classes, actually. I love learning, I love lectures, I love listening to people who know what they’re talking about. I like English because it’s something I good at. I’m very good at analyzing text, picking out metaphors and throughlines and symbolism. I love looking at a book or play, and trying to figure out how it represents problems or aspects of the culture at the time it was written. I love political science courses because I like understanding how governments work and operate. I’m not entirely sure why I like it so much. I just do. As for least favorite, that’s easy. MATH. I HATE math. Math can choke and die for all I care. I don’t need you anymore, equations! I have a CACULATOR. I don’t like math because I’m not good at it. If I were good at it, I’d be fine with it. I may even like it! But it’s a struggle, and therefore I’d rather ignore it’s existence than you know… try or something. It’s actually frustration, because I love physics. I really do. When I was a kid, I wanted to be an astronomer. A part of me still does want to be an astronomer. Unfortunately, to be an astronomer, you need to be able to, you know, not suck at math. I lack this ability. Did you have a teacher who inspired you? If so, who?Oh, goodness, another hard one! I’ve known so many amazing teachers. If I had to pick one I would pick my drama teacher in high school. Mr. Reppert. The Reptar, Rep the Shep. He was so dedicated to his job. He really took the drama club and turned it into a family. And not in the creepy way, in the way that builds communication and self esteem and creates the sense of a community. Wilson Theater Company was a second home. He was there for us if we went through hard times, and I like to think we helped him when he went through a very difficult time. He cared so much about all the drama kids, and he cared so much about theater. Before he came to my school the theater company put on one, maybe two shows a year. By the time I was president my senior year, we put one four main stage shows, a children’s show, several improv shows, and two one act festivals. We also had a yearly trip to New York to see Broadway shows, joined the Thespian Society, and the year after I left, they organized a trip to London.
The Harry Potter World
Which Harry Potter character is your least favourite?I actually like all of the characters. Even characters I dislike I enjoy because I dislike them. Umbridge, for example. I don’t like her, but I love reading about her. It comes down to not who I dislike, but more who I don’t care to read about. I suppose the character that interests me the least would be Tonks. This is really disappointing because I thought she had potential. I even thought she was very adorable in the movie, and book five set her up to be a wonderful addition to the books. However, book six she just lost it for me. The whole storyline she was in just seemed really unnecessary and I literally felt nothing for her. I wasn’t interested in a weepy, sulky Tonks. Furthermore, I didn’t care about her relationship with Lupin. It was so completely on the fringe of what was going on that I had no emotional attachment at all. I wasn’t interested in her love life; I wanted to see her take on some Death Eaters. I really loved the idea of Tonks. It’s just somewhere between Order of the Phoenix and The Deathly Hallows she ceased to be the fun and spunky character I enjoyed and just became a completely non-entity in my mind. And Fanon!Snape. ew. Would you ever join any of the following organizations: the Order of the Phoenix, the Death Eaters or Dumbledore's Army? Why or why not?Unlikely, Not unless it was life or death, and Yes. For the Order it’s unlikely that I would put my neck on the line. I might join if there was some behind the scenes things I could do. I’m not the fighter type, but I would be the type to write articles or work quietly in the ministry promoting all things good. I might even be the spy type. But I’m not about to go running around hexing different people. My sort of bravery is much more low key – but still important.I’m not going to join an organization whose main tactic is killing and torturing people. That’s a big no from me. I would join if it meant saving my neck, or saving people I love. But I wouldn’t join because I wanted to kill me some mugglesborns. Besides, I think I wouldn’t be able to deal with that personality cult Voldemort had going. I’d rather be able to speak my mind freely than be worried about my loyalty being questioned. And finally – hell yes, I would! I would be incredibly frustrated by Umbridge’s DADA courses, and DA would offer an opportunity to learn what I should be learning in the classroom. Plus I imagine I would find it all very exciting to be a part of a rebel organization. It’s like the Order without the mind numbing danger. It would be fun to feel validated and rebellious and like I was a part of something. What do you think your animagus would be? Why did you choose that animal?Well, my Hogwarts is Home animagus is a sun bear, which pleases me to no end. I love bears. And bears fit very well! They are, generally speaking, very intelligent creatures that aren’t entirely social but do have family bonds. Mother bears are notoriously vicions in terms of caring for their young. They are also unlikely to attack unless provoked. Well, most species, at least. They’re not aggressive animals, but they are well equipped to defend themselves. They also can be quite goofy. Ever see a video of cubs playing? Ever see a polar bear at a zoo playing with a ball? So I like the idea of being a bear animagus. Not sure what breed. Sun Bear works, but I think there are other breeds that fit as well. What would your room of requirement look like? There would be big comfortable chairs and couches and pillows and a ton of bookshelves. There would be all sorts of games set up as well, board games and a large space to play other games. And there would probably be a lot of booze. So comfort, entertainment, and alcohol. That’s really all I require in life. Who would be your favourite teacher at Hogwarts?Probably McGonagall. She seems like the type of teacher I always gravitate towards: smart, efficient, no nonsense and with a sense of humor. I like teachers who know what they’re doing and know their topic inside and out. Plus while she isn’t sweet and fluffy, she isn’t cruel or demeaning either. She’s intimidating not because she’ll be mean to you, but because you admire her so much and you just want her to like you and think that you’re very smart. Those are the kind of teachers I love in real life, and I imagine that if I went to Hogwarts, that’s the type of teacher she would be. Therefore she’d be my favorite and I would try so very hard to impress her. Who would you hang out with at Hogwarts?Oh, man. I have no idea. Not the trio. While I’d probably get along with Hermione, I doubt I’d get along with Harry or Ron. Especially Ron. I love him as a character, but seriously, he’s a jerk. If I was in their year, I’d probably get along with Lavender and Parvati. My friends tend to be smart, a bit gossipy, and very silly. Not silly in the Fred and George sense. They’re a bit more flashy. I’m having a difficult time thinking of a good example from the books. I hang out with drama kids, so maybe they are almost Fred and George in their nature. We’re the kind of kids who sit in the dining hall for two and half hours being really loud. Who would be your enemy?Anyone who is a jerk. Though to be honest, I tend not to attract the attention of people like that. I stay under the radar. I’m more likely to have a beef with people are close to my friends and have some sort of personality flaw that grates against mine. I’d say a Cho type, for example. Actually, Cho is a great example, as the last person I really did not get along with was overly emotional, clingy, and selfish and I really could not stand her for it. Seriously, it was annoying and she needed to go away. Post at least 2 clear photos of yourself!I love my hat. </lj-cut>
