BST will use the SQUID Proxy Server installed at the cone level of the DET network to filter all internet traffic in real-time. The DET will be able to specify a virtually limitless list of domains to restrict access to.
The Proxy will be capable of filtering restricted content over various protocols and can provide customisable error pages. The proxy will also supply extensive caching capabilities. Caching of frequently visited static web pages will significantly decrease the number of http requests that will be forwarded onto the internet by the DET gateway.
