Dear Melanie,
It has been six months since we last saw each other, but I still remember every detail of our first kiss, the way your eyes shimmered with malevolence while you pinched my ear, the way you smelled and of course, every tiny detail of the kiss. You were right about me not forgetting my first kiss; I don’t think I ever will.
Our time was so precious together, we should’ve had longer together, our time was abbreviated, the memories of our time together, sticks to the abbreviation like the sand grains to your finger. I remember the abbreviation of your finger, much like your parting, it hurt but I didn’t have time to miss you and say goodbye, it was a smooth transition.
I have been pining for you these last six months but I fear I am slowly getting over it, something that I am afraid to do because you may turn up in my life again, to rekindle our short relationship. I remember feeling young, innocent and foolish, but I am much wiser now and I have matured intellectually, I hope to become a lawyer, I want to help the battlers.
Although I shall never send this letter, because I do not know where you are, I will surely present it to you should I ever meet you again, though the chances are slim. Though I hope we meet each other again, I fear confrontation of the past.
In some ways, I wish you could read this and understand, Melanie, it hurts me not to have been able to say goodbye or see you leave, but it also gladdens me that I did not have to hurt more because I could not let go and could not say goodbye.
I know I may sound like I am contradicting myself, but I am still unsure of myself, just know that if I ever see you again, I will not let you out of my sight, while you’re not here, you’ll remain in my heart, always.
