DESCRIPTION
===========
The idea is to make easy to the user of the konqueror web browser to recover, administrate and store relevant information about the web pages it visits and at the same time being non-intrusive and user-friendly. So this are the main features:
* Shift to a "Places" paradigm, where a place can be a visisted page, a bookmark, a page in a saved session, a recently closed tab..
* All those places would be stored in akonadi using nepomuk+strigi for tagging and indexing them, storing the whole content of the page, a rating, tags (and sub.level.tags), the title and the url of the page.
* The drop-down list of the location bar would be used a search field for live searches in those so-called places. I will research different existing concepts used in other similar applications like kickoff, raptor or firefox in order to choose the most convenient interface.
* The Bookmarks menu would work in a similar way to this drop-down menu. It won't be a multi-column menu like today.
* To add/remove current page, it would be as easy as hitting over a star that appears in the right side of the location bar, a concept broght from Firefox 3.
* A session manager for konqueror would be added so that it would allow to save and load currently opened windows and tabs in the database. It would save periodically current session (like kmail, firefox, opera, etc do already) to be able to restore it if konqueror crashes.
* An Kross API would be created to be able to backup and restore all these places information in the web, in sites like del.ici.us, foxmarks or google bookmarks service. At least one plugin would be created for this interface.
* It also would provide a DBUS interface so that other applications can connect easily with konqueror.
* A "Places" editor would be created, which would work in a similar way to current editor.
ABOUT ME
========
My name is Eduardo Robles Elvira (Edulix is my nickname), I'm 21 years old and I am studying 4º course student of Computer Science in University of Seville (Andalusia, Spain). I started using Linux as my main SO when I was 15.
I started last year working in Konqueror developing a patch to support undoing of closed tabs, a feature merged in trunk which comes already with KDE 4.0 . I've got a SVN account in KDE and I continue working in different places of KDE. I've committed some patches to Kate and Dolphin, and I'm finish a patch to support to undo closed windows in Konqueror.
I plan to work hard on this project, and I will spend no less than 20 hours a week in it on average, because I want konqueror to suceed =). After working on this project, with the knowledge gained about Kross I plan adding Kross scripting support all over Konqueror, and certainly working in KDE and specially Konqueror.
