Mine

1. install php5 as a cgi (into /usr/local/php5)
2. copy the php binary to the sites cgi-bin
3. chown the php binary to the sites owner:group (suexec)
4. add the following to a <virtualhost>|<directory>

 addhandler php5-script .php
 action php5-script /cgi-bin/php
