The fovea has a rectangular area of 1.5mm * 1.5mm with a resolution of 150,000 elements per mm^2 which means the fovea has a resulution of about 581 * 581 elements. The focal length of the eye is 17 mm, this means for every 17 mm distance from the eye the rectangle which is projected on the fovea is 1,5 mm wider and 1,5 mm higher. At 3 meters this means an area of about 265 * 265 mm. As show above for an one-to-one pixel mapping we need 581 * 581 pixels on an area of 265 * 265 mm. A pixel thus must be of about 0.456 * 0.456 mm. A TV of 1920 * 1080 pixels will therfore be 876 * 493 mm which has a diagonal of 1005 mm or 40 inch.
