“You do realize the large amount of detentions we would receive if we were to be caught sneaking out for an unauthorized trip to Hogsmeade, right?” Remus inquired in the bitter cold night.
“Moony, my love, that gives me the impression that you believe us capable of getting caught. Of course we won’t get caught, we’re Marauders. Marauders do not get caught. It is not the Marauderly Way. It is the way of the mundane and boring people.”
“...mundane and boring are synonyms, Pads,” Remus retorted.
“Ah, c’mon, even if we do get caught, what harm would it do? Really? I quite like detention. I think that Minerva fancies me a bit,” James interjected with a lopsided grin.
Remus stopped to observe their ragtag team. They had missed the official Hogsmeade trip on account of well, detention. Here they were, trying to make up for it in the only way that they knew how. By breaking even more rules. Just four young boys shivering comically in the February evening, their breath coming out as patterns in the air.
Peter was bundled up with four different scarves and looked like a lopsided snowman. James and Sirius were trying to prove their prowess by only wearing one sweater and hoping for the best. All looking to have a good time, to indulge in that fanciful concept known as youth.
What harm would it do? Not much after all, Remus thought, and trudged on.
