It’s me, [Name Removed], the one you all got mad at in the 2005-2006 school year. My senior year now, and I got a laptop over the summer. I would like to know a couple of things about the policies that apply to Computer Usage and since you are our magnificent On-Campus Technology Specialist, who better to ask than you?
1. Would it be okay if I brought my laptop to school for my studies? I would be using it a lot in Independent Studies as my Study Topic is PHP\MySQL Integration for Database Driven/Dynamic Content website development.
2. Would there be any way I could access the Internet at school without having to provide it myself? I’d be willing to use the School Firewalled Internet, this time completely legitimate, no workarounds!
3. Would there be any way to access my “Home Directory” and any other network resources? I would make sure that my laptop in no way could compromise the network and would be willing to give into periodic checks for anything that could/would compromise the network. This includes everything to me giving GISD Virus Scan reports, to having a tech. search my laptop at any moment for questionable material.
4. Would I be allowed to use it, if I can bring it on to the campus, anywhere on the campus with permission from my teacher? (Only during my Aide Periods where I could work on my Independent Studies work and it wouldn’t interfere with others and their work.)
