They seem to like the release early, release often development style. Why not release the fixes when they're ready, instead of waiting? It's not like the bugs pop out because of the last release AFAIK.

I would say it's still a pretty young client, because the core was rewritten for the 0.9 releases to support encryption, so small glitches tend to pop up from time to time.

In the case of 0.9x there were a few major bugs, which could lead to data loss. There haven't been such issues with the 1.0x branch.

At least there have been no security issues with it, like the recent µTorrent releases…

edit: Spoke a bit to soon: http://trac.transmissionbt.com/ticket/666
I guess there will be a 1.0.4 eventually.

edit2: If I understand the problem correctly it doesn't seem like Transmission does anything wrong. I tested it on one of my downloads, and if I choose to verify local data, I would expect it to throw away data that hasn't been verified, that's what it's supposed to do right.

edit3: Or maybe the problem is that it doesn't continue verifiying where it left off if you pause it. That would be a problem. I can replicate that on one of my seeds, but if I choose to verify the data again, it picks up the whole file at least. Might be a bit different on a partial download.

and another one:
I'm now checking a file that I have, I paused it in the middle, resumed the transfer, selected verify local data again, and now it's checking the data and downloading at 800 K at the same time... It wound up being complete when it was finished checking though

I won't blame you if you find this serious enough for a ban.
