Hi,
The connection you have ordered from us is 1/8 the speed of your cable connection. Things you download on your Zen connection will take roughly 8 times longer.
Again, if you feel things are too slow, then you may want to re grade your service to one of our ADSL Max packages. They offer speeds of up to 8meg, depending on how far from the exchange you are, and the quality of copper in the ground. You can find further information on these packages here: http://zen.co.uk/Broadband/athome.aspx.
If you have any further problems, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Hi thanks for the IT lesson, but it was quite unnecessary, however what I do understand with complete clarity is the fact it took around five minutes to download an 8 meg file with my Zen connection, and less than a minute with my cable connection. Granted my cable connection is 2mb, but I know slow when I experience it :-)
The modem is directly plugged to the main socket, no shoddy extensions..!

Hi,
There is 2 measurements of speeds used. Kilobits, and Kilobytes. 1 Kilobyte is 8 Kilobits. Speed of connections is always referred to in terms of Kilobits, and download speeds are usually referred to in terms of Kilobytes.
So essentially, your connection is a 32 Kilobyte connection, and you are experiencing download speeds of around 28.8 Kilobytes/s.
Or, your connection is a 256 Kilobit connection, and you are experiencing download speeds of 230.4 Kilobits/s. Both these statements mean the same thing.
If you can check your speeds you are experiencing at http://speedtester.bt.com to make sure you are getting the speeds you should be, you may be a little slower than you should be.
Again, if you feel things are too slow, then you may want to re grade your service to one of our ADSL Max packages. They offer speeds of up to 8meg, depending on how far from the exchange you are, and the quality of copper in the ground. you say in your ad up to 256, yet your telling me 32 is max? I don't think this is working out at all for me, even my own sparse web pages are snail like.... I feel your ad is extremely misleading..!

Hi,
The package you have ordered from us is a Home 250 connection from us. The theoretical top speed from this is 32KB/s although it will always be slightly slower than this, due to connection overheads.
If the figure you have quoted is in KB/s, then this means your connection is performing exactly as it should be. You can test this by going to http://speedtester.bt.com, this site will give you accurate figures of what your line is performing at.
If this is not what you expected, then you may want to re grade your service to one of our ADSL Max packages. They offer speeds of up to 8meg, depending on how far from the exchange you are, and the quality of copper in the ground. You can find further information on these packages here: http://zen.co.uk/Broadband/athome.aspx
If you want to re grade, please contact our sales team on 0845 058 9000.
If you have any further problems, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Hi, I have download speeds of 28.8, not as fast as a decent modem, what's the problem?
