Parental Differences

My mother and father share many traits. For one, they are both a parent to my two brothers, sister, and I. They are also relatively close in age, being in their late 30's. The both of them work full time and contribute to the pile of bills that stack up on the kitchen table. Although the seem very alike, they are infact very different.
First of all, my mom works full time at home with an in-home daycare. She has to do many different and tiring tasks such as changing diapers, keeping the house clean, and just meeting the essential needs that each daycare child requires. She also makes lunch for herself and all for all of the other children. She has been doing daycare for about nine or ten years. In contrast, my dad works full time at a window company in Scarborough, Maine. At his job he assembles windows all day. His position is right under the owners. My father has been working there for about 13 years. He also works at the Civic Center. He is and usher/security guard there. He's been working there for about the same amount of time as his main job. Sometimes he makes lunch for himself, but most days he either drives up the street to McDonalds or Pats Pizza with some co-workers. As a side job, he also installs windows at peoples houses. This usually happens on the weekends to not impede with his busy schedule.
When my parents are both home, they also do entirely different things. My mom for example, does alot of household chores. She likes the house clean and spotless. She also mainly takes care of the family, such as doing laundry, spreading sheets on beds after a nights use, etc. My dad usually makes dinner because whenever my mom tries, the alarms always seem to sound. However, most of my fathers time at home is spent on the computer or watching television. Even though he spends alot of time on the computer, he knows nothing about it. He's usually checking bank account numbers, credit card bills, fantasy sport leagues, etc.
More importantly the both of them have very different personalities. I've never understood how they coexist with such different personalities. Anyways, my mom has a very strict personality. If she wants something done, she wants it done now and not later. She tends to be more disciplinary towards wrong doings. Also, she can have a fun time but also be a serious person at the same time. In opposition, my dad isn't very strict at all. He is only strict when he thinks something was very wrong. If he wants something done, he'll usually do it himself. He is not the type of person that will chastise you for every little thing that you do wrong, but only the major things.
Although there are many different people in this universe, I am glad that my parents met eachother. With so many differences comes so many similarites, and it's those differences/similarities that make relationships work. In spite of my parents being very different from eachother they have found a working way to coincide with one another.
