: : Hemenway/Dipper: It's YOUR club [and campaign site]!
:
: I have a question for you. In the past elections there was a website for the candidates provided by STF. You state, and thank you for explaining why you use it as your slogan, that "It's YOUR club [and campaign site]!" So my question is if this is our club and campaign site as you state then why do we have to go to an unoffical website, by unoffical I mean not run by STF, to see your election site and not only do we have to go to a different site but we have to join and log in there as well? I mean if it's our club and site then why isn't it kept on the STF server where it can be accessed with our current login?

Hi, Eddie.
As EC in the last election, Colin Wyers required that all campaign sites be hosted on the STF server. In the previous election where I was EC, I didn't require that (and Alex Verdusco did, in fact, host his offsite). I asked Robert if he was planning on having the same requirement and he replied that he wasn't. We decided to host our site off the STF server for a handful of reasons. First, it's much more convenient to make changes to the code when both Jack and I have immediate access to it. On the STF server, we'd have to bug Robert everytime we wanted something changed and he's got enough on his plate. <G> Second, our campaign site is actually a fairly complicated content management system, which would have been less than fun to figure out how to install on the STF site. Given that, I've tried to make the link as short as possible so that it's easily accessible. If you have any thoughts on how to make that even easier, I'd love to hear them! We've spoken with Robert about the site to ensure that follows all of the election rules.
You don't have to join there at all. That's only required if you want to make comments on the web site (like signing Cale's cast <G>). All of the information is accessible without the need to join. I apologize for not making that more clear.
Remember, the website is there for you, so if you have any questions or comments about it, I really encourage you to mention them.
Thanks, Eddie, for your feedback!
Sarah
