: Okay, I'm still LOA until tomorrow but I saw something that kinda bothered me and I'd like it clarified ASAP.
:
: Sarah, why do you list yourself as 'Command Minute Taker' on your website?
:
: The title is "Command Janitor", and though I gave you the position months ago, you've only taken minutes and archived one discussion. When I hired you I gave you the task of reading through the past discussions to add them to the log, before they were archived, and nothing happened.
The title "Command Janitor" doesn't mean much to anyone who isn't aware that you created the position. In an attempt not to require a paragraph explaining the position, I noted it down as something a little more obvious. When I accepted the position, there were two discussions you indicated that needed to be completed. One was note-taken by Danny, which I then marked up as the template to teach him DocBook on; the second was recorded and marked up by myself. No other discussions were indicated by yourself to be included.
:
: Is this my fault for not following up with you, or did you just back burner the position? In either case, why are you adding it to your list of positions when you've not done the job?
I'm not certain what you're attempting to accuse me of here. I was given no indication of what discussions should even be included and only instructed to record the two past discussions as indicated before. Considering that I have completed the two tasks that you did inform me of, nor have I been removed from the position, I was under the impression that I still held it.
Thanks for leading into a part of my platform that I'd like to emphasize! This is a great indication of how fuzzy requirements and uncertainties can lead to misunderstandings. I was under the impression you'd indicate to me when a discussion was one you wanted recorded. A clear job description could have certainly benefited this situation! Also, it's my firm belief that, if there is an issue about something, the election ship is definitely not the first place that it should be heard about. Clear, open lines of communication are essential for any leader and his or her followers.

: If you've got a folder full of word documents waiting to be uploaded or something, I appologize, but from what I've seen you've only archived one discussion, and that was definately not there last time I looked. Upon further investigation, the last timestamp on the file is for June 19th, though the discussion took place in March.
:
: Just curious what's going on here. Thanks!

The last timestamp on the file? I'm not sure what you mean by that, as the Library is uploaded in its entirety every time there's a new version, as that's the way DocBook works. The timestamp would be meaningless to determine when the file itself was added to the Library. I just double-checked and saw that both discussions that I've handled are currently in the Library. According to my Subversion access, I completed the Alpha Alliance one on March 9, 2006 and the IRC RPG one on January 26, 2006. My records say that I was appointed to the position in Februrary 2006, so the latter would be the one I marked up for Danny and the former would be the one I did myself.
As I stated above, I'm shocked to find that a situation like this was never brought to e-mail or IM or even a post elsewhere first. This is exactly the political nature that Jack and I seek to discourage in STF; this hardly makes it an enjoyable experience for anyone (leader and follower alike). Communication in terms that both parties can understand, including what's expected of each party, is essential to keeping the club not only operating but enjoyable!
Thank you for your question, Jen.
