Hi there. I just decided to write a guide how to play EuphRO on Linux (in wine or Cedega). It maybe won't be perfect for everyone, since my English is not that good. neither is my Linux experience (like one year)

1: Distributions
I don't think this is a major part. I use Ubuntu and SuSE. I had a bit lag because of that sometimes. I heard of a friend using Gentoo, who had no lag at all. But there are ways to fix the lag problems ;)

2: What do i need?
- 3D accelerator for your graphics adapter
Ok.. There are several ways now:
-> Running RO with wine from WineHQ.org: This should work. But since wine itsself doesnt support DirectX completely, you may get lag
sometimes, or your mouse pointer will slide over the screen, even if you stopped moving the mouse.
-> Cedega: I tried cedega.. RO worked ok, but the backspace-key and custom keys for different languages (like ä,ö,ü) diddn't work.
Because of good DirectX support, there was no lag at all, but somehow, i got a lot of Gravity sprite erros, even with fuly patched kRO
and Sakray. But for others, it worked perfectly..
-> WineX/CedegaCVS: I sadly could not try that, since the current cvs seems to have some bugs. I can't compile the CVS without a
shitload of compiling errors. Maybe this errors will be fixed some day. If so, a good tutroial of how to install the CVS can be found here:
      http://www.linux-gamers.net/modules/wiwimo...OWTO+INDEX+Wine
I think the CVS would work better than wine, since it got better DirectX support.

3: Installation of RO: I don't really know, how the kRO, EuphRO and sakray installer behaves in different emulators. I just copyed my Windows
installation of RO to my Linux. But i heard of people who even used the installers. No idea, sorry.

4: How to configure for normal wine:
  -> Known problems: Sometimes the background of a text area gets transparent, and some parts are hard to read;
Some effects are bugged.. nothing horrible; Maybe lag
-> Installing wine: You should know how to install wine. In most distros, you can get it from the packet sources built in. If not, go to
http://winehq.org/ and download the right package for your distribution.
  -> Configuration:
Depends on how you play. If i were you, i would not use a resolution of more than 1024x768 px, because it will cause a lot of lag (at
      least it did for me)
      I want to play fullscreen:
This is easy: start a console, browse to your EuphRO directory and type 'wine Setup.exe'. The RO setup should pop up now. If you get
something like wine: command not found, your wine installation is not correct. I won't explain how to install wine correctly ;)
Set RO to fullsscreen @ 1024x768x16. This should work. Better disable sound first. This will just cause crashes and nobody knows
what's going on ;) after this is done, run 'winecfg'. Then a setup window for wine should pop up. Change the emulated system to
windows XP. This should be all. Now run 'wine EuphRO.exe'. If your EuphRO client pops up in fullscreen, we are almost done... but it
porpably won't connect ;) we will fix that later.
I want to play in window mode:
not that much harder, but: Since the windowmode of RO itself does not work, you have to emulate a desktop in a window and run
EuphRO with fullscreen in that window. Browse to your EuphRO directory and run 'wine Setup.exe'. Now set the Resolution to whatever
you want (as i said.. more than 1024x768 will propably cause lag) and enable the Fullscreen checkbox (!!). Now run 'winecfg' and
move to the graphics tab. Enable the virtual desktop checkbox and set it to the resolution you chose in your setup.exe. Try running
RO by typing 'wine EuphRO.exe' and hope it works. Your client propably wont connect. We will come to that later.

---> If there are any problems and something does not work, tell me. I will extend this tutorial then.

5: How to configure for Cedega:
-> Known problems: Backspace does not work; After using Alt+TAB and returning to RO, you have to press ALT again before doing anything.
If you dont, your RO thinks you have pressed ALT all the time. So you wont be able to type, and all the shortcut windows will pop
up. Like if you press s, you will get your skills window.
-> Installing Cedega: You should know how to install cedega. If not, you can get free support by the cedega developer team. But it's not
free (i think it was $5 per month. not sure.)
  -> Configuration:
      For fullscreen:
Browse to your EuphRO directory and run 'cedega Setup.exe'. Set it up however you want. But disable sound, since this will cause
crashes. then run 'cedega'. A graphical interface should pop up. Now edit your configuration profile and set it up like this:
      - Winever : winxp
      - Use XVid Mode : enabled
      - Use XRandR : disabled (important!! In most cases you will get blackscreens if this is enabled)
      - DXGrab : disabled
      - Managed : enabled
      - Mozilla Control : enabled
      - Decrease WineServer Priority : disabled
      - Accelertate InternProcess Communication (SHM Server) : enabled
      - Use PThreads : default
      - Desktop : -
      - Path to Browser : -
      - Working Directory : -
      - Command Line Option : -
      - Free Type and XRender : enabled
      - Activate Game HUD : whatever you want :D

      - Audio -

      - Use OSS, since ALSA crashes in most cases

      - Graphics -

      - Video RAM : default
      - AGP Vertex Data : default
      - Pixel Shaders : 1.3 (enabled)
      - Vertex Shaders : enabled
      - NV_VAR Extension : enabled
      - ARB_VBO Extension : disabled
      - Fixed GL Extension Buffer : disabled/-
      - Fixed Program : auto
      - Fragment Offset : auto
      - Non Power of two Textures : auto
      - Clip Space fix : enabled
      - Anisotropic Filtering : enabled

      now run 'cedega EuphRO.exe'

      For Window Mode:
The profile configuration of cedega is the same as for fullscreen, with one exception: Set the Desktop: part to the resolution of
your RO window. Run 'cedega Setup.exe' in your RO directory and enable fullscreen. As the resolution, choose the one of your
Desktop: part in your cedega profile.
      Now run 'cedega EuphRO.exe'

6: How to configure for WineX/CedegaCVS:
-> Could not try anything... Sorry (maybe someone who knows about this could write something for this section)

7: How to get the client connecting to EuphRO
Ok now, we are almost done. But your client propably will just say 'could not connect to server' or something like that. No problem.
Wine and cedega screw up with your connection IP. No idea why, but they do. Since the game-server's IP adress is euphro.game-server.cc
which is 69.39.224.10, we gotta tell your linux to change the ip adress to which wine wants to connect to 69.39.224.10.
This can easily be made with iptables. First of all, you gotta check to which ip your wine wants to connect. Get a packet sniffer
(such as WireShark) and chek to which ip your system wants to connect on port 6900. for me it was 115.101.114.118.
now set iptables up to re-route this: open a console as root (usually just open a console and type 'su'-> enter -> <root passowrd>.
  now execute the command 'iptables -t nat -A OUTPUT -d <wrong ip> -j DNAT --to-destination <right ip>' (and replace the wrong/right
ip. For me it was: 'iptables -t nat -A OUTPUT -d 115.101.114.118 -j DNAT --to-destination 69.39.224.10'. You can for sure run this
command on startup of your linux distribution (for most distributions, this can be done by typing this command in the file
/etc/rc.local or /etc/rc.d/rc.local. Depends on your distribution. Now try to connect with your EuphRO client. It should work ;)

We are done.
