Hey, Amanda!
Thanks for your question and what a searching question it is! Wow...what have I been up to in STF in the last year?
MOTDS
I've offered my technical skills for designing new MOTDs to QDirs, FComms, and COs. This allows them to have a way to get the information they want out to other STF members, without being left behind due to a lack of technical skill or time. My MOTDs are easy to edit and standards-compliant.
Examples: Fleet Three (June 2006), Engineering Department (May 2006), SS Bonaventure (May 2006, January 2006), USS Challenger (February 2006), USS Kansas (February 2006), Gamemaster Department (August 2005), Command Fleet (August 2005)
SHIP WEBSITES
I don't offer help JUST for MOTDs; I really believe that a ship having a web site helps create a community atsmophere on the ship. This makes it an even more enjoyable place to roleplay. I've worked with COs to establish a web site that fits the needs of their environment.
Examples: USS Draco (June 2006), Oed V (May 2006)
REPORT FORMS
Many fleets had the same report forms for the past two or three commanders. The FComms didn't feel that they were getting the information and feedback from the COs they needed, so I offered to redo their fleet report forms using their new questions.
Examples: Fleet 3 (January 2006), Fleet 2 (January 2006), Fleet 5 (January 2006), Fleet 1 (December 2005), Fleet 7 (October 2005)
GAMEMASTER DEPARTMENT
I've been a part of the Gamemaster Department since August 2004, where I've been extremely productive. I've worked to solidify rules so that there's no question of if something's allowed or not, as well as made sure that the complaint process is fair and informative for all people involved. Some of the highlights from the past year are:
- Gamemaster Mentoring Mandate (June 2006)
- Gamemaster Training Program Mandate (November 2005)
- Complaint Review Process Implementation (November 2005)
- Reference Manual Mandate (August 2005)
INTERNET DEPARTMENT
I've been involved with the Internet Department for quite some time as well. My work in the department has included bug squishing (April 2006), a logo contest (February 2006), the creation of a bug report form (December 2005), and the site update/cleanup (August 2005). These projects keep costs down by making sure that everything on our server is neatly organized, as well as make the process more streamlined if a member has a problem.
STF LIBRARY
As Assistant Librarian, I've done much of the gruntwork to get information moved into the Library. Having everything in one place for people to reference makes it much easier to learn about the different parts of STF. Some of the projects I've worked on are:
- Addition of ENERGIE (May 2006)
- Addition of FCOMM rewrite (May 2006)
- Command Minutes (February 2006)
- Department Policies Page (February 2006)
- Academy courses (August 2005)
MENTOR PROGRAM
As Mentor Coordinator, I've ensured that it's really working for our new members. I've designed the tracking system to make it easier to see our retention data. I've hosted a contest to try to get more Mentors, making the workload easier for our volunteers, and I've checked in with every retained new member personally to get their input on the program.
STF ACADEMY
One of my dreams in STF was to be involved with the Academy, either as XO or as CNS. I was able to fulfill this dream by becoming the out of character commander of the USS Challenger (where I'm now the official CO, based on a new Academy edict). The Challenger was suffering from some neglect when I took over and, with the help of a wonderful CNS and a great senior staff, the ship has gone from one of the messier Academy ships to a spotless roster full of brilliant new members. With the assistance of my staff, I've added additional reporting to give cadets more feedback on their performance, as well as a bios page so that the cadets can see the development that my CNS and I went through with our characters. I've successfully graduated two classes of cadets.
OTHER ITEMS
I've assisted with a number of other projects in STF, including the Bonaventure Website (May 2006).
/me blinks.
I didn't even think I'd done that much! A full list with details on each project will be available on our campaign site, so please stay tuned!
Thanks again for your question, Amanda!
