====== Installing Asterisk 1.4.4 ======

When you compile the different parts of Asterisk they must be compiled in the following order.

  * zaptel
  * libpri
  * asterisk

===== Downloading Asterisk =====

You can download asterisk using ''wget''. Download each of the components into the ''/usr/src/'' directory. At the time of this writing, the following tarballs were available.

  wget http://ftp.digium.com/pub/asterisk/releases/asterisk-1.4.4.tar.gz
  wget http://ftp.digium.com/pub/zaptel/releases/zaptel-1.4.2.1.tar.gz
  wget http://ftp.digium.com/pub/libpri/releases/libpri-1.4.0.tar.gz
  wget http://ftp.digium.com/pub/asterisk/releases/asterisk-addons-1.4.1.tar.gz

Extract the files with ''tar xzf <filename>''.

===== Installing Zaptel =====

  ./configure
  make clean
  (maybe make distclean)
  make
  make install
  make install-udev
  make config

Note: ''make config'' will install the files ''/etc/rc.d/init.d/zaptel'' and ''/etc/sysconfig/zaptel'' so that zaptel loads on restart.

===== Installing LibPri =====

  make clean
  make
  make install

===== Installing Asterisk =====

  ./configure
  make clean
  make
  make install
  make samples
  make config

===== Starting Zaptel Manually =====

On Dupont's IVR, they have both a TDM4xx and a TDM8xx. It seems that you must load the wctdm24xxp module before the wctdm module in order for this to work correctly.

  * ''modprobe zaptel''
  * ''modprobe wctdm'' for TDM4xx and TDM1xx cards
  * ''modprobe wctdm24xxp'' for TDM8xx and TDM24xx cards
  * ''ztcfg''
  * Sometimes a reboot is necessary.
