Assessments/Workload?
Stuff I did:
Everything. Unfortunately.
Assessment Structure:
3 online quizzes, 20 % each.
Group assignment, 12-15 pages of straight-laced uniform google regurgitation, 40%.
The quizzes were rubbish. Bad English, double-negative questions, poorly laid out lecture notes and 101 stupid 'tick the 4 correct answers' questions meant that it was almost impossible to score 100% in these. It was mostly multiple choice / tick the box, but there were a couple of short-answer questions which were so ambiguous that they make the typical commerce paper look like literary masterpieces. To this day I still have no idea what the answers were supposed to be.
I'm still doing the group assignment, so I won't say much except that it's a pain to work with people you haven't met (except the BIT in my group), and webct certainly doesn't make it better. I think it also has something to do with the profile of the typical student who would do this course.
Other Comments?
Don't do this course. I only enrolled in this because I had to do a 3 unit gened and it was week 2 of semester. The fact that the course was still only half-full in week 2 should have indicated something about its quality.
The lecturer has problems writing in English. The quizzes are poorly structured. The course material is boring. The group assignment is satanic spawn embodied in writing. Courses like this one makes me wonder how UNSW can call itself a teaching institution. Seriously, save yourself the trouble and stay away from this. If you absolutely must do this course because you wind up in a precarious situation like I did, then email me at aaron |at| panasbodi |dot| com and I will forward you some 'assistance'
My Rating?
0/10. I'd go into negatives if I could, but I'm supposed to be impartial here...
