I found your address on an internet forum about bicycle traveling. I can
see you are very active in your journeys all over the world. Me and my
friends have recently started planning a trip to Tibet and you wrote on
the forum that you returned from there recently. Our team is 5 cyclists,
we want take a plane from Warsaw to Moscow, and then fly to Lhasa --
capital city of Tibet. We have 2 months of holidays and I think this is
enough to visit interesting places and get to know them even a little. I
know it won't be an easy expedition, so we are planning to take the best
available to us equipment and best bikes. We believe that this will make
our journey both easier and safer. So the technical side is not our
concern. I would like to ask you about different things. For example, we
don't have enough and reliable information about political situation in
Tibet. Could you tell me something about problems with Chinese police
and the army, if there were any? Where were you sleeping? Are there any
hotels, hostels or private guesthouses, or do you have to walk arund and
ask private people? How much does it cost to rent a room and buy a
decent meal? Which places would you recommend as the ones we should not
leave out? Is wireless internet available there, is it free? We have an
idea to keep an online logbook during the tour, with text and latest
taken pictures uploaded as often as possible. We will take some
electronical equipment (laptops, digital cameras, GPS), so we need to
double check with you if the voltage in Tibet is 220 or 120? Are any
other important things which it isn't possible to read in tourist guides
about?
I am sorry I have flooded you with questions, but I think that the more
prepared I will be, the more I will enjoy my journey. If this one works
out, then we will definitely try to visit other places, meet other
cultures and maybe one day we will be able to answer your questions in
relation to the place you plan to go. I will be very grateful if you
answer to my letter as soon as possible so we have plenty of time to use
your opinions and knowledge in early stages of our preparations.
PS: If you ever be in Eastern Europe in the future, please visit Wroclaw
in Poland. This is beautiful city with lots of interesting places, and
even if it is not very exotic, I am sure this time I can help you
planning your trip!
Best wishes
