*BEEP*BEEP*BEEP* the clock alarm sirened in Carly’s ear. Her eyes quickly shot open leaving her blankly staring at the pale white ceiling. She slowly rotated her head around towards the noisy alarm clock. A red blinking light that read 7:31 glared in her brown eyes leaving her partially blinded. Carly than slowly lifted her fragile arms up behind her head and squirmed around her bed as she slowly stretched each part of her body. Carly let out a long but gentle “yawn” as she placed her hand down on the off button of the alarm clock.
Carly ruggedly dragged her hand down the side of the clock, off the side of the night table and back onto the corner of the bed. She tightly grabbed the corner of the blanket and pulled it down toward her feet at the end of the bed. Carly lifted herself up and after little struggle she was out of bed. Her feet slowly shuffled across the white tile floor of her apartment towards the dresser. She was quickly dressed and swiftly headed to the bathroom. Her hand quickly plucked the hair brush off the counter and started brushing her silky brunette hair. In little time she exchanged her hair brush for a tooth brush and started brushing her white, Hollywood-like teeth.
Carly was than ready to head out her door for her daily commute which involved a taxi and a subway route. The taxi ride was generally boring and expensive like always and Carly as usual, talked to the taxi driver. Carly sat in the middle of the subway like usual with the other New York Times readers. As usual the paper was covered in more mass disappearances. Carly’s thoughts were deep into her readings until she heard chatter a couple seats down. “Hey Larry, have you heard the update on “The Labyrinth” rumor?” Carly was instantly interested because of her integument towards legends, rumors and gossip so she dropped her news paper and turned her head towards the conversation.
“Yeah, something about…like the labyrinth got bigger to make room for people outside of New York” Carly was instantly puzzled and asked herself questions like “what and where is this labyrinth?”
After a moment of silence Carly quickly spat out a question to the gentlemen down the isle not thinking about intruding on their conversation “how did you hear about this labyrinth and what exactly is it”. The gentlemen laughed and as one dropped his suitcase on the ground the other explained “how didn’t you hear about it, people have been talking about it for years. The labyrinth is a massive tunnel system under New York City so the rumor goes and a man who considers himself god run it. He picks people up from dark alleys and secluded areas than he drops them down into this dank maze where they face horrifying terrors and trials to prove their worthy ness on this earth.”
Carly’s spine tingled as the man finished his statement and thought to herself “this is scarier than any horror movie ive seen”. At this point both of the gentlemen were looking deeply at her searching, waiting for a response. “What kind of sick man would...” *DING* the bell went off and a voice on the pa came on “13 street subway station”. “Sorry this is my stop” Carly explained and than walked off. Carly couldn’t think of the silly person that made up this stupid, immature rumor. She was now 12 blocks away from her law firm but she new a quick way through a back alley slightly down the street.
