The Safe-Keeper’s Secret
By Sharon Shinn

This is a wonderful book full of rare-found wisdom. Sharon Shinn keeps you guessing at the many secrets, truths, and wishes throughout the entire book. Shinn conveys to you that you can become anything you want to be in your life, and to never give up on your dreams, even when someone tells you that you will never become a Safe-Keeper. Fiona becomes a safe-keeper after the death of Damiana.
Fiona who everyone thinks is Damiana’s daughter, was a kid before she lost Damiana. Fiona changes dramatically after Damiana dies. Fiona matures into a women and becomes a Safe-Keeper. She even learned how to take care of herself and the house after Reed left for work.
This book has a medieval setting which has the air of magic. This story with its Truth-Teller, Dream-Maker and Safe-Keeper would seem unreal in today’s era. The Truth Teller Tells Fiona that she will never become a Safe-Keeper, but she does anyway. The Dream Maker helps certain people’s dream come true, but the Dream Maker lives a horrible tortured life. Last, the Safe-Keeper keeps any secret and always knows the perfect time to tell the secret.
This book portrays life in an old fashion way. The Truth-Teller tells the truth about everything just like an old wise man would today. The Dream Maker makes dreams come true kind of like American Idol does with great singers. The Safe-Keeper would be kind of like the government, who keeps secrets from the people and waits for the right time to tell them. For example; the government didn’t tell American’s about the Manhattan Project until Hiroshima and Nagasaki were destroyed.
