Dear Wordpress Developers,
Here is a problem I have been dealing with and have not found any solution to. I have quite a few number of pages in my Wordpress install. Probably somewhere in the realm of 1000. Lately, editing or creating new "pages" is taking upwards of 30 seconds to a minute or two. I have hired 2 different people to take a look and solve this problem. Even spent a few hundred dollars but still no luck. Other members with extensive static pages are having the same problem as me. These is no help on the community forums as no one can answer to this issue. The only thing I have found is this: http://trac.wordpress.org/ticket/3614 (Scaling Issue with hundreds of pages) but this is not the solution for me as this only fixes the Admin GUI for managing pages. We seriously need a solution for this. It has been very hard to grow my business as I have had several server crashes. The last person I hired for the job concluded that the problem is very simple; every page generates a rewrite rule.

A moderator also suggested that:
"The only way I can see to get rid of it would be to rework WP_Rewrite->page_rewrite_rules(). How exactly it would have to be reworked, I'm uncertain. I need to study WP_Rewrite in more detail."
Yet, no further investigation or answers. So my last option is to come to you guys for help. Please help us!
