In pratica avevo installato feisty (ubuntu). Poi misi subito il pacchetto xubuntu-desktop e kubuntu-desktop.
Aggiornando a gutsy, quando apro la sessione con xfce, non mi si vedevano i bordi delle finestre. Lanciando da terminale questo comando ho l'output seguente:
$ /usr/bin/metacity --sm-client-id=default0
