                    Debian es un sistema operativo (S.O.) libre, para su computadora. El sistema operativo es el conjunto de programas b&aacute;sicos y utilidades que hacen que funcione su computadora. Debian utiliza el n&uacute;cleo Linux (el coraz&oacute;n del sistema operativo), pero la mayor parte de las herramientas b&aacute;sicas vienen del Proyecto GNU; de ah&iacute; el nombre GNU/Linux. </p>
                  <p align="justify">Debian GNU/Linux ofrece m&aacute;s que un S.O. puro; viene con 18733 paquetes, programas precompilados distribuidos en un formato que hace m&aacute;s f&aacute;cil la instalaci&oacute;n en su computadora. </p>

                  <p align="justify">Debian GNU/Linux es la principal distribuci&oacute;n Linux del proyecto Debian, que basa su principio y fin en el software libre.</p>
                  <p align="justify">Creada por el proyecto Debian en el a&ntilde;o 1993, la organizaci&oacute;n responsable de la creaci&oacute;n y mantenimiento de la misma distribuci&oacute;n, centrado en el kernel Linux y utilidades GNU. &Eacute;ste tambi&eacute;n mantiene y desarrolla sistemas GNU basados en otros n&uacute;cleos (Debian GNU/Hurd, Debian GNU/NetBSD y Debian GNU/kFreeBSD).</p>
                  <p align="justify">Nace como una apuesta por separar en sus versiones el software libre del software no libre. El modelo de desarrollo es independiente a empresas, creado por los propios usuarios, sin depender de ninguna manera de necesidades comerciales. Debian no vende directamente su software, lo pone a disposici&oacute;n de cualquiera en Internet, aunque s&iacute; permite a personas o empresas distribuir comercialmente este software mientras se respete su licencia.</p>
