Good day,

I have recently purchased 10 Highpoint RocketRaid 2300 drivers from a
Dutch retailer, and I am quite happy with their performance on 32bit
Linux.
I did however specifically purchase your cards because the box, the
manual and your website state that the Linux drivers are 'Open Source'.

Now, the drivers do not function correctly in 64bit systems, and do not
cooperate with xen, so I decided to try and fix them, this is when I
discovered that the drivers were not open source at all, but are just a
fairly thin source-based wrapper around a whole bunch of proprietary
binary-only modules.

I am fairly disappointed at highpoint's marketing strategy in this
regard as I am firmly opposed to using proprietary software, and using
proprietary drivers even more so. I would like to stress that I
specifically selected highpoint's rocketraid 2300 cards because
highpoint openly advertise the Linux support as being open-source and I
felt that such an act should be supported (vote with your wallet).

I hope there is a way to rectify this situation,

Kind regards,

Hein-Pieter van Braam
