With the release of the next version of Downloads Pro this is what I guessed would happen. Once the devs at the mothership found out we were working on a new project they would kick back into gear with a renewed vigor to move Dragonfly forward in an attempt to prove they are not stagnated (even though it's obvious up until now that they were).
I noticed that DJMaze, Trevor and Akamu have become a little more active recently, which is great for Dragonfly, but not so good for NexOS.
If they follow the usual patterns this increase in focus on Dragonfly will last a few months, then the wind will change and they will taper off once again.
I think NexOS is still an awesome direction to go with the reduction in core size, and the new layout/design of the entire thing. If they do launch the next version of Dragonfly soon, or shortly after we launch the initial version of NexOS, we need to make certain that we have our act together. NexOS must show marked improvement, features, and abilities.
Either way it's a win, win situation. We will either release a superior CMS or have pushed Dragonfly forward in its growth process.
Now more then ever we need to keep an eye on their CVS changes and make sure whatever "holes" they repair or change are also fixed within our structure.
My Reply:
Just keep in mind that as the frameworx evolves and moves toward the ultimate goal, the less dragonfly code exists.
There are already a few sections and files that have been nearly completely rewriten to work the way we want it to work, and no longer have any relevance as far as DF security goes.
Whatever holes they fix or change are good to watch as far as the concept of "what other software does this method work on" but in the end most of their fixes wont benefit us much.
As far as pushing DF forward, that's fine and all but I personaly have no intrest in the movements, or lack thereof, of that project.
At this point I'm dedicated to creating something that meets a specific goal, and no CMS in the world can reach that goal. I'm not looking to compete or compare with anyone, just simply make something that exceeds everything in every aspect.

Rock on! I'm with you with that concept! I can't wait!
(of course then he started posting again about how we have to "watch the mothership")
