ok, good! Then bringing the scope up a level, my script includes some images on a page, but if the library can be moved around, the root folder of it renamed and such, it needs to know where to reference these <img> tags via the webserver, if a script is at /~homedir/somepage/myscript.php on the webserver and it includes "xedlib21/utility.php" and calls something like GetButton('edit'); then this function is supposed to know to look in /xedlib21/images/edit.png for the edit button (I know the problem looks bigger than that but this is just an example off the top of my head) How should my utility.php know to look in /~homedir/somepage/xedlib21/images/edit.png ? That's my real higher question.
