(The group enters Marin’s house)
Cade: So where’s that book?
Marin: Make sure nobody has followed us, and I will retrieve it.
(Finley looks out the door)
Finley: We’re clear, bros!
Marin: Though if Voyd recognized me for any reason, keeping watch won’t do any good…
(He begins to search, but Bones distracts him)
Bones: Who is that guy and why were you so nervous when his name was mentioned?
Laurel: He’s in the Hand….
Cade: What?!
Marin: She’s….correct. Though I had never seen him in person until today.
Finley. Whoa Whoa Whoa. You’re saying that really was a Hand guy we saw in town?!
Marin: Yes…one of the highest ranking officers, in fact.
Bones: But you didn’t know what he looked like? Even after spending all that time in their organization?
Marin: No…I had met the other two lieutenants, Dican and Cleon, but not him.
Cade: …didn’t know Dican was ranked so high.
Finley: I think Danika replaced him. She said something about being a lieutenant when we met her.
Marin: Voyd is a shadow mage…and from what I understand, some sort of prodigy when it comes to the magic of teleportation.
Bones: Well….if you never saw him, then perhaps he never saw you.
Marin: With his abilities, how would I ever know that for sure?
Cade: Well, you’ve changed your appearance since then…judging from what you told us in Artagel.
Marin: Yes….hopefully that will be enough.
(Marin goes to a small table and reaches under. The book was strapped under it. He pulls it out)
Marin: Here it is.
Bones: Good. We’ll leave tomorrow morning. Hopefully that will be quick enough to keep us out of the Hand’s sights.
Cade: But why would they come here? There’s no way they could know he hid this copy in this place.
Bones: People like them….there are plenty of other things on this island that could strike their interest.
Finley: You keep saying stuff like that…what are you talking about?
Bones: Forget it. I’m going for a walk before bed.
(He leaves, followed by Laurel and Finley. Cade remains and turns towards the book)
