The Adventures of Lanny and Louis
	Lanny and Louis are legends. The duo has saved countless babies from burning buildings, prevented at least 50 different bank robberies, and done many public service, both great and small. They…
	Excuse me?
	Did you say you’ve NEVER HEARD OF LANNY AND LOUIS?? That’s…that’s terrible! The whole world knows about them.
	I think.
	Still doesn’t ring a bell? Let me tell you a story about them….
	You’re lucky I’m not busy.
* * *
	Lanny and Louis were best friends. Louis called Lanny “Bigfoot” because she had size 9 ½ feet, while Lanny called Louis “Pinhead” because Lanny though Louis head looked small with his new haircut. Though his hair has grown back and her feet have stopped growing, the nicknames had stuck.
	Lanny was kind of chubby. She had thick brown hair that went to her shoulders, and green eyes that were always really bright, making her look close to tears all the time. But she never cried. She was one tough cookie. Louis was on the swim team, so he was really skinny and had kind of short hair. They both were average 10th grade students: They got good grades, they had lots of friends, and they hated math.
	At least, they were average kids until that fateful day.
* * *
	Lanny and Louis usually walked home from high school. They would also stop for Dairy Queen on their way home. The two would chat about their day and flick sprinkles at each other. It was one of their favorite times of the day. But just as they were crossing the street…
	…a car hit them BOTH at the SAME TIME!
	This would change their lives forever.
	It was the beginning of something new for Lanny and Louis.
* * *
	They recovered from the crash slowly. After a couple weeks, they were taken out of intensive care once the two could function properly. A couple weeks after that, they left the hospital and stayed at home for a long time, calling each other and discussing their plans. None of the teachers were giving them homework, except for Mr. O’ Malley. Mr. O’ Malley was the 10th grade geometry teacher. He believed that “the world stopped for no one”, and that if people were absent, they should still know everything. It was nearly impossible for Lanny and Louis to know the stuff they told him. Not only were they angry but their parents were, too. Their math grades began to slip. So Lanny and Louis formed a plan.
* * *
	On their triumph return back, Lanny and Louis had brought in a cake to share with their friends and anybody who wanted any. But Mr. O’ Malley put a stopper in their plans, because the duo had him first period and he took the cake away, saying “sugar is bad for you.”
	This was bad, but worse was the fact that Mr. O’ Malley took the cake and BEGAN TO EAT IT in their FACES! That was the last straw for Lanny and Louis. They stood up from their desks. “Anybody with us?” The whole class stood up to follow them. Mr. O’ Malley got up to try and stop them.
	Many things happened consecutively. First, Louis pushed his desk forward to stop Mr. O’ Malley, and it flew across the room and pinned the teacher to the wall. Second, the cake flew out of his hands and Lanny jumped up almost to the ceiling and catched it.
	They exchanged looks. “I didn’t know you could jump that high!” told Louis to Lanny, just as Lanny was saying, “Geez, you’re STRONG!” They smiled for a second. Mr. O’ Malley struggled from under the chair, and they hurried out of the classroom. That was the beginning.
	They had people sign a petition to get rid of Mr. O’ Malley, and over 500 people signed it. So many people had known Mr. O’ Malley, and every single one had hated him. Of course, a petition doesn’t get a teacher fired. But people began to ask questions.
	One day, Louis and Lanny went to the principal’s office. They showed him the petition and explained what Mr. O’ Malley had to done to them and to other students. They had finally proven the right people. Mr. O’ Malley was fired.
	Weeks passed. The new math teacher, Ms. Clancy, was great. She had a great personality, and she taught math really well. Lanny and Louis were legends at their school for getting rid of Mr. O’ Malley.
	But O’ Malley wasn’t going to let them go that easily.
* * *
	It happened on the day they were staying after school with Ms. Clancy. She was the only one that knew about their superpowers, and she was trying to help train them. So far, it wasn’t going well. Lanny had accidentally jumped really high, smacked her head on a tree branch, grabbed on to another branch, which broke so she fell onto the grass. She was covered with bruises for days after that. Louis had accidentally run into someone to hard and they had flown into a wall and broken their arm. He had left the scene of the crime before he could be caught, however.
	Anyway, the two had just finished up practice with Ms. Clancy, and they felt they deserved some ice cream. But as soon as they walked out of the school, they were ambushed by O’ Malley. He tackled Lanny and tried to choke her, but Louis pushed him off her and they began to fight.
	You see, Mr. O’ Malley also had superpowers.
	As Louis was about to win the battle, O’ Malley got up and flew into the sky.
	“You both will regret the day you messed with O’ Malley!” In a blink, he was gone.
	Lanny and Louis exchanged glances. “This could be a problem,” Lanny said.
	“Ya think?” Louis replied.
* * *
	Their days continued the same. They weren’t really doing good yet, just training with Ms. Clancy. O’ Malley had attempted to kidnap them 3 different times and kill at least one of them 5 times, but had never even seriously harmed either of them.
	Then one day, Lanny found a note in her locker. She showed it to Louis.
	I have taken your beloved teacher and my much-hated replacement to Fireflower Fields. Meet me their at one o’ clock, or she will die.
	Lanny looked at Louis, the worry showing on her face. “He wants a showdown. HE WANTS TO KILL US!” Louis was calm. “We’re gonna have to give him the best showdown ever!”
* * *
	They met at the fields at exactly one o’ clock. On the left side of the field was Mr. O’ Malley, with the gagged, tied, and unconscious Ms. Clancy at his feet. Lanny wanted to run forward, but Louis held her back. “Wait for the opportune moment. We planned this out, remember?”
	She sighed. “It seems to me plans never go as they should.”
	Louis and Lanny stepped forward, as did O’ Malley. They met at the center of the field of red flowers. “To the death,” O’ Malley whispered to them.
“To the death,” they repeated calmly back, fingers crossed. They planned to just knock O’ Malley unconscious, tie him up to a tree, and call the police to pick him up. No one moved for a minute or so. The duo just stared at O’ Malley. He made the first move, running into Louis and pinning him to the ground.
Lanny kicked O’ Malley, and as he rolled over, groaning, Louis tried to tie him up, but he flew out of the way just in time. The battle was like this for a couple of minutes, until O’ Malley flew into Louis and made him crash into a tree.
As Louis lay there, dead or unconscious, Lanny got so mad at O’ Malley that she jumped on him and knocked him unconscious. She ran over to Louis, who was bleeding on the grass, where it kind of blended in with the flowers. She began to cry.
Course, he was fine. She was sobbing over him when he cracked an eye open and said “What just hit me?”
She hugged him, tears running down her cheeks. He just had a surprised look on his face. “What’s going on? What just happened?”
* * *
	A few weeks later, Louis got his memory back, O’ Malley was arrested for “disturbing the peace”, Ms. Clancy was teaching again, and everything seemed okay. But nothing is ever okay long.
	O’ Malley was their first real bad guy. He was not to be the last.
THE END
	See, now you know who I’m thinking of, right? I just had to joggle your memory….
	Still nothing? Ah well.
	At least you know about them now…
