I've been considering a HDTV purchase for some time. I'm interested in 32", right now it's the largest size that's practical. I live in Canada so model availability is somewhat constrained.
My technical requirements are as follows:
pixel aspect ratio must be 16:9 (matching the panel); the uit must support 1:1 pixel mapping via HDMI/DVI. It will mainly be driven by a linux based HTPC. I plan to use this TV for many years.
The TV will mainly be used for watching actual television, though I may play games on it from time to time. I'd like black blacks, no clouding or light leakage, good image quality, no ghosting. NTSC performance is also extremely important, most of the content is still SD.
I've narrowed things down to a few models under consideration:
The "omg 1080p" option
Sharp LC32D62U
The "omg XBR4" option
Sony KDL32XBR4
I'm open to suggestions, though I have no interest in a larger television. I'd like to keep the price reasonable but I don't mind paying for quality.
