[01:37] <jani> http://pastebin.ca/747334 <- i got following kind of error when trying to view quicktime movies from certain pages in trailers.apple.com ..
[01:42] <jani> http://www.apple.com/trailers/independent/dragonwarsdwar/DWARTrailer_sml.html <- one of non-functioning pages.
[01:42] <funman> libdvdread: Can't stat /home/jani/.mozilla/firefox/3u6o9jg6.default/Cache/d-war_h640w.mov
[01:43] <funman> No such file or directory
[01:43] <funman> jani: upgrade firefox
[01:44] <funman> jani: yeah that doesn't work for me too
[01:44] <jani> funman: so its known issue in older firefox or was that your suggestion ?
[01:45] <funman> jani: suggestion
[01:45] <jani> cuz it seems that it reads one file, this F69889F9d01 which is in cache folder
[01:45] <funman> yes
[01:45] <funman> and the URL is embedded in that file
[01:45] <jani> yep.
[01:45] <funman> since VLC read from a file, it tries to relate the relative URL to that file
[01:45] <funman> but it should relate it to the website
[01:46] <jani> yes and strings grepping thru that files only shows the filename, without any paths or urls ..
01:46] <funman> [00000396] mp4 demuxer debug: detected playlist mov file (1 ref)
[01:47] <funman> http://www.apple.com/trailers/independent/dragonwarsdwar/d-war_h320.mov < 404
[01:47] <jani> yeah, the url is formed via javascript to another host.
[01:48] <jani> but same piece of js is used in other pages and in those it works.
[01:49] <funman> jani: the URL is in the browser it seems
[01:49] <funman> in the html*
[01:50] <funman> http://movies.apple.com/movies/independent/d-war/d-war_h.320.mov
[01:51] <jani> also, afaik, the cache file should be that "hash" and not a normal filename when it reads the cache folder.. so either the playlist mov file is unsupported / new format or its saved incorrectly ...
[01:51] <funman> the former
[01:52] <funman> jani: rename that file and put it somewhere else
[01:52] <funman> and then play it with vlc
[01:52] <funman> well it's supported
[01:52] <funman> again, vlc will extract the relative URI
[01:52] <funman> but maybe quicktime gets "extra" information from "somewhere"
[01:54] <funman> argn=id, argv=movieName2Inner
[01:54] <funman> argn=data, argv=http://movies.apple.com/movies/independent/d-war/d-war_h.480.mov
[01:54] <funman> the problem is in the plugin it seems
[01:55] <funman> well
[01:55] <jani> seems to work on other occasions, for example here: http://www.apple.com/trailers/newline/bekindrewind/small.html
[01:55] <funman> jani: can you open a bug on trac, and assign it to "Quovidis" ?
[01:56] <jani> yes, i was about to do that =)
[01:56] <jani> just came to ask if its my setup only or actual bug
