I wanna be the leader
I wanna be the leader
Can I be the leader?
Can I? I can?
Promise? Promise?
Yippee I'm the leader
I'm the leader
OK what shall we do?
- Roger McGough
They often tell you to finish with a song, but I wanted to do something different and start with a poem. Trust me, you don't want to hear me sing and I'm fairly certain Dippy only sings in the shower.
My name is Sarah Hemenway and I'm going to spend the next three weeks earning your vote in the forthcoming election.
I don't expect you to just give me your vote; I want to earn it. I want to show to you that my running mate, Jack Dipper, and I are the right choices for our club. We have a platform and policies, but you will see all of those (perhaps a little too much <G>) over the next month. What we want is for you, the roleplayer, to feel that this club is being run for you and that our policies are inspired by you.
Allow me o put the focus of our campaign simply: it's YOUR club.
As the poem ends, OK, what shall we do?
Jack and I aim to prove to you that we and our campaign have the Right Stuff. (Shameless plug for our platform title there, folks. Stay tuned!)
I won't bore you with our bios or a litanty of the positions we have held in the club. The most important position that we have both held is being a role-player. As much as we want to improve the club for you, the role-player, that's the reason we are all here.
When you are ready to be bored with those bios, our website will be launching within the next few days, containing everything you could ever want to know about Jack and I and our platform. The website and that platform require your input too, so please make sure you have a good read. There will be a number of opportunities for you to provide feedback!
Someone said that the best speeches are the short ones and I'm going to follow that principle here. Your mouse scroll fingers will get enough of a work-out by the time this election is finished, I'm sure. <G> But, before I conclude, let me leave you with one more thought.
It's easy for each person to think that an election is already decided, that your vote makes no difference. Your vote DOES make a difference. Respect your vote and use it to make an informed choice. Make this club yours once more.
I hope over the next month that Jack and I can prove ourselves worthy of your vote!
Thanks for reading!
