Harriet, Barbara and Mary
By --
Harriet, Barbara, and Mary,
Three heroes of the eastern plains,
Each doing their part,
In what they see right,
In which we see them as heroes today.
Harriet Tubman, a runaway slave,
Always came back to save another each day,
Risked her life for her fellow race,
--
Barbara Frietchie, an old northern woman,
Stood up against the south with brave flying colors,
In which she waved our flag,
The symbol of our freedom,
--
A lady who ate a mushroom,
Mary be thy name,
Caring for the children,
In case of death that day,
--
All these honorable heroes,
Not forgotten to this day,
Never to be forgotten,
Because they did the right thing.
