I just upgraded from Feisty to Gutsy, Synaptic said everything was successful (it only complained about my disks already being mounted).

After the required reboot, Ubuntu fails to completely load.
It shows the progress bar filling up to almost full, then drops back out to console output.
The only errors I see are Firestarter trying to load (and failing) a couple of times, a bunch of disk errors because it tries to access sectors outside the limit (had to manually restore my partition table on a disk a couple of days ago, not the one with Ubuntu, think I got something wrong) and something about the new network manager failing something.

Anyways, it resumes after those errors and starts loading the local script files.
The screen goes black a couple of times and ends up back att the console. From there I get nothing, commands can't be typed so I assume something's running but not responding.

In safemode, everything seems ok. If I try to run gdm the screen just goes black a couple of times before returning to the prompt, no output. Running gdm again gives me an "already running" error.

If I type exit, Gnome continues to load and halts after the local script loading once again, but sometimes I get a login prompt.
I can login to my account, but where do I go from there? It says dgm is already running but I can't get to the actual desktop.
