Tor is configured for both client and server. The client listens on SOCKS port 9050, as a transparent proxy on port 9040 and control port 9051. Only connections from localhost are accepted. The server uses OR port 9001, Dir port 9031 and is available to everyone so that it can take part in routing although the exit policy rejects all. This is more secure than restricting to localhost as an attacker has to decipher whether the traffic is from the user or others on the network. The server nickname is the concatination of 'incognito' following by a truncated MD5 sum of the build date. A unique nick name is not generated as this may hurt anonymity.
