<stevo32> could anyone tell me why there hasn't been an english database dump in ~a month (they keep on failing)? when will up to date database dumps become available again? tia.
<Connel> When an XML dump completes (success or failure) it gets added to the end of the list to be re-run (i.e. it has to wait its turn until it starts again.) The enwiki dump takes about a month to dump, but is not the most resillient feature. So a successful dump depends upon the network essentially being stable for the entire duration.
<Connel> enwiki should start again in three days from now, according to http://download.wikimedia.org/backup-index.html
<stevo32> Connel, so what are the chances that it'll work?
* Connel feels like a bookie now
<Connel> I give it even odds.

<Connel> WMF offices are moving from Florida to California, right? I'm not sure if that improves the odds of a successful run or not.
<Connel> :-)
<gmaxwell> successful run?
<stevo32> Connel, ok, thanks :)
<Connel> gmaxwell: stevo32 was asking about XML dumps
<gmaxwell> ... 0_o
<gmaxwell> The equipment is not moving.. thought not like their location would have anything to do with it.
<gmaxwell> Brion wrote about the dumps recently on his blog.
* Connel cringes in advance, then goes to look
