It's been a while, but we are still here.
MPlayer's popularity this year has really exploded! We have been adding many new projects to the related projects page.
Since MPlayer 1.0rc1, FFmpeg has added over two dozen audio and video codecs. Like last year, Google's Summer of Code program has sponsored FFmpeg for a bunch of new projects.
HDTV has taken off this year and the MPlayer Team has been worked hard to get EVO and other H264 in MPEG(TS and PS) formats working. Support for parallel decoding of h264 was also added (-lavdopts threads=2).
MPlayer now has realrtsp authentication and support for the Nemesi streaming library. Thanks to a new developer, many more quicktime over rtsp streams can now be played.
IntelMac support should now be complete. Note that Cygwin users wont be able to compile mplayer without applying this patch.
MPlayer now defaults to lcd panels instead of crt monitor aspect. If the video seems squished or stretched please use monitorpixelaspect=4/3 to get the rc1 behavior.
