- I'm trying to finish the Ch04: Commands and Concepts assignment using Linux because I already have vmware-server installed on my system. I'm not particularly sure where the Default Gateway is. This is the output I get from ifconfig vmnet1
- vmnet1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:50:56:C0:00:01
- inet addr:192.168.149.1 Bcast:192.168.149.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
- inet6 addr: fe80::250:56ff:fec0:1/64 Scope:Link
- UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
- RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
- TX packets:25 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
- collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
- RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b)
- this is the output of route
- Kernel IP routing table
- Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface
- 192.168.149.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 vmnet1
- 172.16.42.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 vmnet8
- 138.247.244.0 * 255.255.252.0 U 0 0 0 eth1
- link-local * 255.255.0.0 U 0 0 0 eth0
- link-local * 255.255.0.0 U 1000 0 0 eth1
- default 138.247.244.1 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 eth1
- default * 0.0.0.0 U 1000 0 0 eth0
- The IP Address and Subnet Mask is obvious to me, but the Default Gateway is escaping me.
- Anybody happen to know what I'm missing? or is that *.*.*.0 address my answer?
